PC & Monitor for learning Web Design?

    Folks,

Looking for advice on a PC & monitor for learning web design. I've really no idea what specs might be required, so a self-build PC isn't something I'm looking at.

Budget? Again, don't know what I need but maybe Eur600 - 800. I expect it to be used mainly for web design stuff and general browsing (i.e. no gaming).

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

    How's this?

    Item|Price
    Samsung SSD 840 120GB SATA 6Gb/s|€89.99
    Corsair VS Serie VS350, Non-Modular, 80+|€29.56
    ASRock B75M-DGS, Sockel 1155, mATX|€51.44
    8GB Corsair ValueSelect PC3-10667U CL9-9-9-24|€50.25
    Intel Core i3-3225 Box, LGA1155|€119.26
FRACTAL DESIGN Gehäuse Core 3000 black|€63.43
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€29.50
    MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch|€89.00
    LG 22EA53VQ-P|€129.00
    LiteOn iHAS124-04 schwarz SATA|€16.77
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€687.19

Should be quiet, power efficient, and fast. More than enough for web development, and general office use. Also comes with a nice 1080p monitor.

Honestly, I've no idea. I'll check it out though, because I was getting very close to just buying something basic in a box off Dell...:o

    Thanks.

You aren't going to need an awful lot for web dev, Serephucus' build is more than enough, I would definitely take that SSD though. Do you have a copy of Windows or do you need one?

    Nope, going to need that.

Just looking at HWVS site now - will this lot come assembled, or will I have to DIY? Not seeing an option for them to put it together for me.

    Throw this:

    http://www.hardwareversand.de/Service/746/Rechner+-+Zusammenbau.article

In your cart, and they'll assemble it. You might have to do one or two bits - they don't install heavy CPU coolers for example, in case something breaks in shipping - but it's relatively straight forward.

I'll say to you what I say to everyone else though: I'd give building it yourself a shot. It really is very easy, all you need is a screwdriver. It's not some arcane black magic, and there are plenty of Youtube videos around if you're stuck. If you get really bogged down I'm happy to walk you through it over Skype, or depending on where you are help you with it personally, but I'd be surprised if you need my help to be honest.

If you can put an Ikea table together, you can build a computer. No joke.

Definitely. You'd probably be more likely to tear your hair out over flatpack furniture compared to building a PC.

Thanks folks, might just go with this spec and try putting it together myself - no harm in learning. If it does what I need for less than 700 quid then I'm happy.

    Thanks again

I got my new PC from HWVS yesterday. I swapped the hard drive and motherboard to the items below.

    http://www.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=70769&agid=1342

Chickened out at the last minute and got them to assemble it for me, but it would appear that I'll have to remove the whole lot if I want to put in the Cooler Master cpu cooler :(. I'm very much lacking the confidence & enthusiasm to pull the whole thing apart. Is the Cooler Master really that much better than the Intel jobbie that's in there?

    Thanks.

Yes hardwareversand will not install any non stock coolers even if they are not too heavy for transit while installed.
Since the i3 does not overclock the only difference is the cooler master will be a bit quieter. If the noise of the stock cooler does not bother you then leave it be.
How are you finding the new PC?

I haven't even plugged it in yet - been fretting over this cooler :o. Fractal case looks badass though...:D

    No problem :)
Also you should be able to send the cooler master back to hardwareversand once you pay for shipping. Or you could sell it on adverts.ie for about €20

I'll chalk it down to experience. Is there a cooler upgrade compatible with my board that wouldn't require me to remove it?

You won't have to remove the board to install the after market cooler you have. The case has a cut out on the motherboard tray that allows you to install the backing plate needed for the 212 EVO.

This might help, start watching from 10 mins in
