The oil warning light is generally a warning for low oil pressure on most cars i believe.
That being the case the light wont come on until your engine is pretty much out of oil. By that time your in trouble.
How many miles were last done since the service?

Good job it is a feature to turn off the engine , I did about 4k Miles ! Should it ran that low ?

on a 4 year old car running that low on oil after 4k would say somethings up to me anyway (im no expert tho), when you refilled how much oil did it take?

How often do you check your oil level OP?

Neil - never , service every 10k and expected a light if problems and with a new car, I don't expect problems but I learned !

I'd be checking once a week and not relying on lights to tell me my oil was nearly gone. Hopefully there is no serious damage done to your engine.

you would want to be checking it every couple of weeks to a month minimum so if its burning it off that fast.

They may be nothing actually wrong with the car, just seems a bit odd with a car that young, i mean mine would probably burn the same amount as yours is at the moment and i see nothing wrong with it, but that's an 11 year old Hyundai compared to a 4 year old Audi, wouldn't expect it
