Can anyone tell me a bit about this guy. Just stumbled upon him, his record on paper is amazing 50 fights undefeated including 2 draws, a victory over JM Marquez, WBA fighter of the decade award in 2012. Thought he may have unified a few titles by now?

Why is he relatively unknown , and without a larger fanbase? I feel I'm missing something..

Because he fights in one place only. Maybe two places!

Just Indonesia is it? Any particular reason for this, is it to gain a perceived advanntage? Surely he would have benefited by fighting abroad money wise/fame wise, makes no sense to me. Although I dont like the idea that a fighter has to fight in America or Germany to "make it big".

Has he been dodging fights, read an old thread here he saying he wont fight Gamboa

I've heard his name thrown about, I think he is getting on now in his mid to late 30's?? I think the main reason he isn't more known is he just isn't a big draw fighter. As I am sure you know there are plenty of good fighters (who are champions) out there who just don't draw the big crowds and get big PPV returns (Geale, Sturm, Slyvester, Dawson, Pascal, Bute, countless low weight Asian fighters Martinez doesn't even draw big numbers in the US). The Americans don't tend to pay much attention to people fighting outside of the US generally.

Yeh your right there mate. From my own point of view, I would have been a more casual boxing fan up until a couple of years ago and still I'm not as clued up as many here but I can honestly say I've never heard of him until this morning.

From your list there I've heard of all barring Geale and Sylvester, and Sylvester is retired a while and doesnt seem to have too great a record although he was IBF champion for a period. Wouldnt know many of the low weight category Japanese fighters truthfully.

I'm the same with alot of the Asian fighters, don't really know them other then in the odd boxing magazine I see them in...suppose the countless belts and sanctioning bodies don't help, as it waters down the value of a world title

Yeah its the Asian fighting thing and also he's a featherweight/now super featherweight which is 122-126 lbs (open to correction).

When he fought in the states, he deserved to beat Rocky Juarez but it was in Houston which is known for home time calls. (Check out Juan Diaz vrs Paulie Malignaggi 1).

SFW is up to 130 lbs. FW is 126 lbs max.

34 is very old for a featherweight, I'm surprised he remained unbeaten for as long as he did.

So true. You reminded me of 1985 and Pedroza. I think he was 32 at the time he fought Barry and I recall the media making him out to be ancient. He had a load of defences under his belt at that stage. He even looked ancient!;)
