Companion for calf, any advice?

    Just looking for some advice,

We have a two and a half month old Short legged Dexter calf, we lost his mother three days after she gave birth and we are looking for a companion for him (we have a smallholding so no other cattle) at the moment he's in with an orphan lamb and some male kids but he's getting a bit rough with them and we want him to have some cow company :D. Also our land isn't that great, thats why we got the Dexter as they're easy enough to keep.

I was offered a three week old Angus for €250, its still being bottle fed, which is no problem as we still give our fella a few bottles a day. So considering that we would be keeping them both for roughly 2 years until slaughter time, would the Angus be a suitable companion and if so what are the procedures (according to the Dept) that I need to take if/when I buy the angus and take him onto our farm, (sorry for being so green but I wanna make sure I do it right).

    Thanks in advance :o
