Job bridge & entitlements

    Hi all,

I've been offered a Job Bridge position that supposedly there will a job at come the end of it. I am under 25 so will have v little to show for the 40 hour week. I really want to remain in my hometown though so chin up and all that.

They are going to sort the Job Bridge situation out ASAP, but I am starting next week, so what do I do - do I continue to collect my dole (I'm on JSA) from the post office until the Job Bridge claim comes through and I get my €50 top up? Does the Job Bridge payment go into your bank account, or do you collect from the PO as normal. What kind of documents would I need to bring in to the workplace, for them to start working on my claim?

Also, my Dad is due to retire soon so it will be a one income household, with 4 dependents altogether. Am I entitled to a medical card or anything like that - I looked at the website but it confused me more than anything.

    Any advice appreciated, thank you!

It would be good to familiarize yourself with the details on the JobBridge site.
    http://www.jobbridge.ie/default.aspx

The FAQs for Interns will address your queries. You will note there that you should not be starting your internship prior to approval by DSP:
Commencement on the internship is dependant on DSP confirming the
    individual’s eligibility.

I think the way it works is that the money will be paid automatically into your bank account, but (and I never heard this before until I picked up a leaflet at the Fas office) that you will only get the 50 quid, once you're there two weeks. Not straight way, so bear that in mind.

Its actually the DSP that will decide if you are eligible to go on the scheme.

Yes you can get paid into the bank. You need to be signing on for 13 weeks to qualify for Jobbridge. What you need is form UP51c which the host organisation (company you will do internship with) will be able to provide to you. Make sure they fill in the first part. you fill in the second part and take that to your SW office. Form is sent to Jobbridge who then confirm start date with your H.O. May take a few wks for the 50e to kick in but that will be backdated to when you started. :)

Re: medical card. Anyone can apply so go for it you've nothing to lose :P

So should I continue to go to the PO to collect my dole, or leave it as it will be backdated (for god knows how long) by my local office?

Collect at the PO unless told otherwise!

Contact your local office for clarification

I don't think so - its not anything to do with his dole payment, the €50 top-up is the same for everyone on the scheme.

The €50 extra to your partner on JobBridge would not affect your payment. It is viewed as similar to a VTOS payment or maintenance part of a student grant in that a partner of someone receiving it will not have their own payments means tested against it.
