Bi Polar Disorder Support Groups

Hello all, I was just wondering what experiences people have with the various mental health support groups available in Dublin?
Specifically I am looking to join a Bi Polar support group in the City Centre or South Dublin for people who have experienced psychosis and depression. I have spent the last ten or so years struggling with this since my early twenties and really just looking to try another avenue of coping with this illness.
Any relevant info would be much appreciated...

Not sure there are many bipolar groups around the country generally. Sometimes Aware run support groups. Perhaps you could contact them? Also if you have a day hospital near you they may have information on groups in your area. Good luck . It's not easy to deal with alone .

Aware do Depression groups usually. They're somewhat useful to someone with bipolar but not really catering for you if you know what I mean. Some people with bipolar find them great though.

I'm sorry OP, I don't know of any bipolar specific group. You could try Shine in Dublin, their Cork branch had mostly people with schizophrenia visiting it when I popped in a few years back but the charity is aimed at helping all mental illnesses (it used to be a specific schizophrenia group).

Just to say Aware do run bipolar support groups too at times. It's not all depression so it may be worth checking them out all the same. Again I think if you do attend a local day hospital or if there is one near you they may be great for putting you in touch with groups in your area. I know there is a drop in cafe place in one part of the country and there are groups specifically for those dealing with mania or those who hear voices in bipolar but again these are not in Dublin. Do a bit of research locally and hopefully you will find some support.
