Hows it going, i joined the gym a couple weeks a go, all was going well, but last month i got a bad dose of the flu so i missed a week and a half of the gym, ever since i've been going back i cant finish my routine without feeling like getting sick? Is there anything i can do to avoid this, or anyone else had/have this problem, cheers.

Explain what you eat (in general) before a gym session, inadequate food during the day or too much/wrong food before a session could be the cause.

Do you take a preworkout supplement (ie: NOxplod or something similar)?

I like to eat before I go to the gym, and personally I like to have had at least two meals before I do a session or more if I can help it, eg: meal at 9am, meal at 12, gym at 1. A meal would consist of some veg, a 200g (raw) chicken fillet and maybe 30g of carbs (somewhere around half of a boil in the bag rice sachet, half a large sweet potato, something like that)

I don't really have a proper food plan if you get me, id normally just have a bit of soup and bread, or sandwich for lunch, then head for the gym a few hours later.

Next time you go to the gym have a bit of food an hour beforehand or some time closer to the session than you normally do (a few hours before is too far in my opinion), see how you feel just before the session, during the session and after the session. Don't have a massive meal or anything that would make you feel like you had eaten a brick.

That's just an analysis and solution approach, it may be something completely different.

If it doesn't make you feel any different then talk to an instructor in the gym (a good one!) and if that fails maybe go see a doctor and explain what is happening.

Op what's your training routine? I used to get sick most of the time, it wasn't because the time I eat food before training it was the leg training.

    - I'd do a 10 minute warm up on (not stepping machine, but its sorta the same principle except going front and back, instead of up and down, if you get me, sorry don't know the name)

    - Weights (arms, legs, chest and back)

    - Cardio (abs & core)

    - Treadmill (15mins)

Its by the time i get a bit into the treadmill it happens, i was grand a few weeks ago, but the past two weeks been happening, happened again tonight, tried eating properly, didn't really work.

What speed are you going at on the treadmill? More relevant actually, what's your effort like? If I sprint at the end of a race my stomach does its best to empty itself. Maybe you could consider going more slowly and see if that makes a difference.

    P.S. What's "cardio (abs & core)"?

Sorry I don't know why i put cardio in there, meant core & abs strength (Crunches etc.)

I'd start off 4 minutes warming up on treadmill on 9-10 then one minute 12-13 one minute 9-10 etc, but i used to be grand, now i can barley last till after warming up on treadmill before feeling like muck!

Do you train arms/legs/chest and back all in the same day ? or is it one of those 4 each day ?

You're getting fitter. Try warming up for 10 mins. When I'm running it takes me at least that long to start feeling normal. Also, what are you trying to get out of the running session? It's good to vary the plan from time to time.

The idea of a warmup isn't to tax your body or go to failure. For my warmup I usually do about 12-17 minutes on a treadmill at around 7/8kph so it's a bit of a job really, nothing too taxing but I sweat and I then stretch to loosen up the body.

Warming up is very important so you can hit the muscles you want to hit, if you don't warm up then you may end up straining something.
