New machine arrived Monday, two days short of 3 months from order to delivery (they were waiting on frames and forks). Lovely looking bike, bit heavier than expected, advertised as 6.95KG but scales showed 7.9KG. Advertised weight though was for medium frame (this is L), different wheels (manually requested an exchange) and probably without body paint too. Took the wheels off and it came in at 5.0KG. For comparison my 4 year old Planet XL SL Pro weighs 4.9KG without wheels.

Maiden voyage yesterday evening. Good firm ride with great handling. Well worth the long wait.

I cannot however figure out how to adjust the fore/aft position of the saddle. I took out the 2 bolts but there is still no movement and I don't want to be forcing it in a wrong direction. As it is a Rose branded saddle I couldn't find anything on youtube and there is nothing in the instructions that I could find. Had another roadie look at it and he is as perplexed as me.

Can anybody with one throw light on how to adjust it ??

    Thanks Paul.

    Nice bike!

Saddle/seatpost combo looks like selle italias monolink system...

Have you tried taking it apart and refitting it?

What spec was it advertised with at 6.95kg? I know Cosmics aren't light, but nearly 1kg in the difference is a lot.

Yes that's the system, so after taking the bolts out do you just grip the inserts with a pliers and pull or is there a trick ?

    You'll see

at 6.9KG, it is a big difference alright. I presume going from M to L frame adds a bit but putting the 3 reasons together (wheelset, paint, framesize) it is hard to come up with 1KG. If they weren't including tyres and tubes you might get your 1KG alright but they don't say this.

I used an electronic scales with accuracy of 0.1kg and weighed standing on scales with/without bike. Did it 3 times with consistent readings.

Honestly don't know, just offering as much assistance as I could, never seen that system in the flesh :o

Not a great help harringtonp but sure give it a wee tap and it should go nicely.

As an old bitter twisted fitter said to me once as a wee apprentice -

"if it won't go with an 8 pound sledge, don't force it"

This was around the time of the referendum on abortion, which he was all for as it would stop the production of apprentices!

Thanks for image, it let me see how it was fit together. I think it was just a bit tight after they greased it. Trick was to put a screw driver in under saddle between two rings and push the 4 bits about. Once I did this and reinserted them I had full movement both fore/aft and tilt with just loosened bolts.

Did you take the pedals off? Bike weights are always sans pedals.

Also: maybe it's the boat anchor of a saddle bag you've got there! :P

Yes the 7.9kg was before the pedals, saddle bag and cage went on.
