wrestling memes just posted this on fb:
Ok guys time to pull off a major upset. Fandangos theme is currently 156 in the iTunes chart. How high can we get it? This could be the Pro Wrestling version of Rage Against the Machine at #1 on Christmas Day. For this to work though we'd need the help of every wrestling page no matter how big or small, but there's enough of us (combined) it's doable... what do you say? DO DO, DO DO DO DO DO DO DOD OD DO DUH DO DO DO? Spread the word and let's see how we go! Imagine Fandangos theme on Radio 1 - would be hilarious.

    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/wwe-chachalala-fandango/id614738696?i=614739193

    I love this idea!

Downloaded it myself there for the laugh ( seeing as it's been stuck in my head all day ). In the past few minutes it's gone from 118 to 100 in the Irish itunes Charts. would be some laugh if it got to number 1

Think "ding dong the witch is dead" has already cornered this weeks market for viral chart attempts. Cant imagine it would take much to go top 30 though. Sales required are stupidly low nowadays

The only thing missing on Raw this week was a Jim Johnston chant. That guy has created another addictive masterpiece.

its currently 97 in the Irish charts!

    Up to 89.

I reckon it wouldn't take that many people to get it up into the top 50 actually...

EDIT: Apparently it's Number 3 in the English charts.

Fandago's theme is on course to break into the top 50 before the end of the day in the UK, currently number 55 on the chart.

So, at first I thought this was a great campaign. And it's still a bit of fun, especially since it only costs each person €1.29

But I can't help but feel that the more I think about it, the more this misses the point.

The chant started out of frustration and boredom. The crowd had just turned the segment before, and Fandangoo happens to be the next guy out as the crowd want something new to chant. Out of boredom, and in a sign of protest I guess, they start singing the theme. And I love that. I think it should be sang everytime by every crowd when the product is getting boring.

But the thing is, by purchasing the song, it's actually rewarding WWE, isn't it? Since they'll be getting the profits of it? It's akin to buying a Cena shirt to protest Cena.

When the crowds chanted YES, it was in support of a wrestler they felt had been cheated, and if we were being asked to buy Bryan's theme as a show of support, and to show WWE we'd put our money where our mouths out, then this would be a fantastic idea. One which I'd love to see replicated.

But Fandangoo wasn't cheated, and I suspect (and I do like the guy) it's not a show of support for the character, is it? Has the character captured our imagination so much that everyone is buying his theme to tell WWE to push him more? Or are they buying the song which was used in a form of fun protest, in which case we're handing our money over for the wrong reasons?

Still bought it mind. Was tempted to anyway, before the campaign. Just food for thought. I'll be thrilled if I get to hear it on the radio :P

I think you're reading a bit too much into it.

Its just a bit of fun.

Stuff like this is why I love wrestling fans.

And am just a little bit scared of them.

Fandango, in a week, has drawn more money for the 'E than 85% of the roster.

    Well, his theme, at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 894 ✭✭✭cian68

I don't really think the song was in protest to anything. People were chanting his name as well and had 'Fandango 1-0' signs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,600 ✭✭✭✭CMpunked

He was over before mania. Before the show in captains there were so many people shouting his name it reminded me of when Kennedy/Anderson was very hot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,132 ✭✭✭Andy_rse

Up to 20 on the UK chart. Just bought my copy!

Would be cool to do the same with the Taylor Swift Brock Lesnar remix :D

I'd want a personal version with lyrics about me before I'd spend any money on it!

They'll probably play a 20 second snippet of it on the charts show,if it all.

Same with Bryan last year, It wasn't the match (or lack thereof) at mania that got him over, he was over all weekend, bars and hotels were subjected to Yes! chants all weekend.

I think it's Thursday evening/Friday morning, actually. According to wiki...

A new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by the Irish Recorded Music Association on Friday at noon. Each chart is dated with the "week-ending" date of the previous Thursday (i.e. the day before issue).

On the boredom issue - Live shows were and are an interactive experience, if people sit on their hands and just 'expect' to be entertained then they are wasting their time and money imo.

I'm not convinced the reactions should be attributed to boredom, it was down to a buzzing crowd at that point in the night.

Yes chants were and are great craic to take part in hopefully the fandango stuff carries on so fans have an easy way to interact with each other. Things like that get a 'flow' going and lead to nosier crowds during the shows.

I wont go into deep into it here, its probably for another thread but I think at times the over informed nature of people like us posting here spoils our own chances of enjoying things. WWE Wrestling is pretty basic, good v bad and like a good action movie at times you need to leave your brain outside when watching it and not over think it tongue.png

Anyhow Fandango for No1 - woot! woot!

Nail on the head here. I really don't think the reasons for it need to hyper analysed to the extent that the fun is taken out of it. Every person in that arena had an absolute blast at the event and it was all for a bit of craic. I hope it catches on because Fandango is fantastic.

This is a hilarious idea. If it got to number one what would the chart countdown shows on MTV do, though? Maybe Vince can let them use Fandango's titrantron.

Lads, I'm not gonna lie... fandango has made the last week and a half so much more enjoyable for me! This is so funny/brilliant... I love wrestling fans!

I work in Sky, and whenever someone got through to me to book WM, I told them I couldn't process it for them unless they could say his name properly... Que 40something year old mothers, late teens and every inbetween getting a great kick out of a simple Box Office phonecall! I hope Fandango stays on the main roster for years...
