Dont buy a cheap chinese android, it'll drive you nuts.

Go get the Ascend G300 from vodafone or Amamzon.de and be done with, slightly more money but you wont get hit for VAT and Duty, have to wait 2 weeks for EMS to ship it by boat and can return it if anything goes wrong. Also a much better phone.

The umi does look great,I'm not sure about the 5 inch screen though because 4.5 is stretching it for me,also there seems to be stock issues.
My current phone is an iPhone 4S,but I want a more open platform phone that I can mess around with(software) and not worry too much about breaking.

Crappy (1500 mAh) battery and low RAM on the K7. Probably not compromises you want when paired with a 1280 x 720 display.

In what way would they drive you nuts ?I've also had a look at the ascend and although a very decent phone,The screen is the deal breaker for me,it's just too small.

Yes,I never thought of this, would this make you choose the Bedove over the ONN ?

Thanks again for the replies so far.

Because they're unsupported, they end up staying on the software they ship with (without any updates, fixes or new features). OTOH the G300 has a vibrant community making custom software keeping the phone up to date for longer. There is a big thread about the G300 here. Android is evolving very quickly, apps get outdated and developers drop support for older versions to concentrate on new versions.

Those DX phones come with junker cells, dont expect more than 2-3hrs battery life(some even come with two packs as the life is so short). They're underspec'd and the firmware barely works and will never change as above.

Would you buy a €20 Parachute? A €50 Car? No. Same thing for a smartphone, its essentially a full blown computer. If you buy a junker it'll barely be able to boot never mind function smoothly.
