I bought a few pairs off this site

    http://myhuntingshop.com/footwear.html?cat=18&manufacturer=153

I saved nearly 90 euro compared to what the great outdoors were looking for the same boot.

John Lambert in Camolin is fairly competitive with them, around e250 I think. And ya get to try them on for size first, nothin worse than buying a pair online and they're not fitting right.

Yeah alot o money to be apending without trying them on first! I always like to try new boots on with 2 pairs of socks and make sure they fot right and are comfortable and the army pro being a high boot really should be tried on before buying

If your covering serious ground/distance/gradients at speed I'd avoid buying Meindles online and spend the extra few € and go for a proper fitting. I wanted the Burma, turned out it wasn't suitable for my foot or my climbing style, ended up with the vakuum instead, the left foot slightly smaller than the right!

Out of all the gear i have i could safely say the meindls were the best investment i made. I used to go through boots 2 pairs a year at about €100 a pop but my meindls often get mistaken for new boots still! If you have the money spend it wisely, you wont regreat it

Meindls need to be tried on and fitted ..they run on rather small sizing...My pair though tight lasted a long time before the sole parted company..very good boots. Great Outdoors have a website and seem to have a range.

No... they were just too tight at the toe but to be honest I think they needed a resole. I still have them mind! I did consider another pair long and hard but I had a serious pair of motorcycle boots from Altberg so I defected.

I was told a resole for my army pro would be about €60-70 if i ever needed it, great value if the boots are in good nic because you could get another couple of years out of them!

Get a pair of "Berghaus yeti attack" gaiters to go over your boots and they'll last alot longer.

yip the army pros at 230e were one of my targets but just a word of caution and I'm not a shoemaker but its not always possible to resole a pair of boots and get the same lifespan .I'm open to being beat out the door on this one.

Im expectin to get about 5 years out of my army pro before i resole them, reckon another 2 years is possable then.. I know a guy who had them for 8 years and a further 2 after a resole!! Thats cheap boots over 10 years!

Jesus the army pro's seem to be the ones. If I could get close to 5 years out of a pair of boots for €230 I wouldn't mind.

my meindls were bought in 1995 and gave up their eternal sole in oh 2010 or thereabouts and they were still totally waterproof.....not army pro but hiking boots.

cannot see them on the great outdoors current line up probably discontinued ..closest equivalent would be the Meran with Goretex lining.

I found the uppers go before the soles, mostly from walking thru the heather.
    Hence the berghaus gaiters.
You'd be doing very well to get 3 seasons out of a pair.
Then again if their sitting in the hall they'll last alot longer :-)

the yetti haters are great but if your hopping barbed wire or trudging through heavy cover they get ripped to **** had a pair and jst gave them away before they got worse gave them to a photographer on mount leinster they didn't suit the ground I was covering but they do save the boots

That's my point....I'd rather buy 3 pairs of gaiters a year than 3 pairs of boots. ;-)

I got the Meindl Taigas a couple of years ago in Great outdoors. They are the same fitting as the Army Pro but thicker leather. Still like new and seriously comfortable and supportive.
They hadn't them in stock when I ordered and to be fair the guy who is in charge of the boot dept ( Neil I think) offered good advice and service , not always the situation in that shop.
When you are spending that sort of money have them properly fitted.

just a word of caution regarding the fitting of the meindl. they do a wide fitting on some of their boots so i would advise not to buy on-line and go and try them on to avoid making a costly mistake.I have the dovre extreme boot for hunting and knocking around . great boot but be warned that they need to be well maintained and this takes time and effort. Be aware of where you store them after a day out .As with any leather,if dried to fast,it will crack and shrink and result in a very short lifespan.
    best of luck with purchase

I got a pair of miendl island mrs active tonight. Beautifull boot went up tried them on a fell in love. The support is unreal. Giving them a coat of beeswax here now so hopefully all will be good with them.
