Hi, unfortunately the foal out of our mare died at birth and the mare (our only one) died a few days later. The stallion master offered a free return but obvioulsy as she was our only mare we have no mare to return. Does anyone know what the story is here, there was no mention of what was to happen if the above scenario occured. He won't give the money back and legally im pretty sure he doesn't have to as I presume the contract is for the use of his stallion which he provided and not the production of a foal (although no terms or conditions were every agreed written or verbally) Just wondering if this has happened to anyone and if so what was the outcome?

    Thanks

Really sorry to hear that, an awful outcome but unfortuntely as the foal was born you wouldn't be legally entitled to money back.

Sorry to hear that, Do you know anyone else with a mare who would be interested in using that stallion and they could just pay you?

That's what I thought, or maybe sell it at a reduced rate

It's a very unusual situation that you are in. Most covering contracts are on a no foal no fee basis. Did the foal draw breath at all? A lot of contracts are on a live foal basis too!!! Even the cheapest of stallions dont charge unless it is a live foal. PM me the details if you wish. I do know what i am talking about. It is my job.
