I had the opportunity to see BLOPS II in action on the Wii-U last week and have to say I was impressed and didn't expect it to look as good as it did. Are there many Wii-U gamers out there who own it? Is it easy to get into online matches? How do you feel it compares to the COD franchise on the PS3 or XBox. Obviously it won;t be as good graphically but is it still a good experience?

I'm not the greatest fan of nintendo and have a passionate dislike for all the cutesy and Mario stuff that they produce but Wii sports on the original Wii was fun and BLOPS II impressed me.

I don't have this myself, but just wondering why you think it won't be as good graphically as either the PS3 or 360?

Good question. This was my first experience of the WiiU. I knew nothing about it as a console and was basing my biased opinion on the fact that it was:

    a) Nintendo
    b) had Wii in the name

The Wii was very poor graphically compared with the PS3 and 360 and I didn't hold out much hope that the WiiU would be much better. I'm very ignorant of the WiiU and even now haven't checked the specifications. I was impressed by the look of COD though and it would be interesting to determine what percentage of WiiU owners bought BLOPSII and how they find it compared with PS or XBox.

WiiU is the first Nintendo product to pique my interest and if the games were more in line with PS and XBox rather than flogging the Mario horse* I'd look at it more closely.

*I realise that 'flogging the Mario horse' is what appeals to millions of Nintendo fans, I've just never been a fan myself. My loss I suppose :)

Seems I've a lot to learn. I've been reading the owner's thread and MrE posts a list of the release games. Nice to see some top quality familiar titles in there on release as well as the usual Mario stuff.

Also, this is exactly what I would do too. :o Us gamers are so romantic :)

Now back to COD BLOPSII, any owner experiences out there?

Aside from the ability to play on the gamepad itself, or play two player with one player on the TV, one on the gamepad, it looks like a fairly lazy case of "let's take the xbox 360 version and dump it on the Wii U with just enough tweaking to allow it to run".

    [edit]
Seems reasonably sloppy ports are par for the course, but those that aim to improve the experience are able to do just that, eg. Need for Speed

I bought the WiiU and if I'm honest it was really to play BlOPs2. We had a Wii for a few years and I found COD Reflex, then played BlOps and MW3 on the Wii.

My son has an xBox and imo the WiiU and 360 are very similar in terms of graphics. I cant get used to dpads and thumb controllers so I use the wiimote only and I love it.

Previous CODs on the Wii trailed behind the other consoles/pc. No DLC for Wii or WiiU, little or delayed support for Wii CODs eg MW3 was and is still hacked to pieces on the Wii including a MW3 cheat that gave the predator missile so this was coded for and the Wii could handle it but Activision couldnt be bothered to give it as an option.

There are some discussions on forums querying whether MW4 will come to the WiiU and if it will have wiimote compatibility.

One benefit of COD on the Wii - no online subscription but this might be one reason why developer support has been lacking.
