Sorry if this is in the wrong place. My friend is South African working on a student visa. He has just been told he has testicular cancer. A lump was found during a medical. He was told he was not entitled to any medical care for free as he is not from Europe and it will cost a few thousand to get treatment. Is this correct?

get your friend to look at www.citizensinformation.ie, I am no expert and maybe someone more knowledgeable will come along, but from my reading of it, it does look like your friend is liable for his treatment here, I assume he has no private medical insurance in South Africa ?
