If you had arranged to have your car to be looked at by a garage on a particular day to diagnose one or two minor problems with it and it was scheduled to be seen on this given day. How long is acceptable before you feel they are taking the pi$$? My car has been in the garage for over a week for things that i think should take a few hours to do especially if 100% time is spent on the car. Everytime i ring mechanic they are excuses like they waiting for parts and have problems fitting the parts, caught for time etc.

Just want to know has anyone experienced this? The mechanics arent putting a new engine into the car or anything like that.

09 vw passat. Getting a hitch installed first (part of deal)parking sensors on it are faulty and i was told they need replacing by garage. Radio has been giving trouble and needs to be looked at too, may need a new one. All covered under warranty so it doesnt matter what they do to it as they fix problems.

    Over a weeks work? Right?

depending on the radio model and parking sensor model they could very well be waiting for parts.

Normally it is 2/3 days for parts. The longest I've waited on parts from vw is 4 days. This is for older model VW's where they have to order in parts from the UK/Germany.

They could be struggling to fix it or have it on the back burner as it's a warranty job.

Well they have the parts they need but i think they are fceking me around a bit. I ring every day about it because they havent given me any feedback of when it should be done or when its going to be done. If they gave me an approx day or time i would be happy.

Do they have the right computer equipment to program the new components to work properly I wonder?

I thought you just bought an 09 audi A4 with a rear parking sensor issue?

for a start i would asume whatever is happening with the stereo is being done on an exchange unit basis, which could easily take a working week.

also, if parking sensors are being replaced (the sensor itself) they will have to be painted, which a lot of garages would have to sub-contract out, the messing involved with this could take a few days too.

No that was a 10 Audi A4 that belonged to my father, i had to borrow his car for a few days and discovered issue. An Indy mechanic sorted that out and didnt take him long. I picked up a 09 VW Passat recently but have to get few things sorted but are covered under warranty by the garage I bought car. Only for that I would have got my Indy mechanic to do it as you know.
