    Hi All,

Have heard about botox injection for underarm to stop excessive sweating.
I shower daily, and have used all kinds of deodorant but still continue to sweat a lot especially in nice weather and nights out. It really bothers me as I have to try avoid wearing bright colors cause the sweat patch's are really obvious and embarrassing.

Can anyone recommend anywhere in Dublin that does the injections? what's the procedure and how much are they?
is there any where up north that does them cheaper?

    Appreciate all advice and help.

Have you tried talking to a pharmacist?

There's a topical treatment you can get that's pretty effective and doesn't involve having injections. One brandname is Driclor. I used it leading up to my wedding to avoid sweat patches and found it very effective. I just bought it off the shelf in Boots at the time.

With botox you are talking about a few hundred euro and you have to get it done every few months. I also have excessive and in hot weather have come out of the shower sweating :o It was really embarrassing and a friend suggested Driclor. It takes about two weeks to kick in but it literally changed my life. No more excessive sweating for me and it's a lot cheaper than botox. Like Das Kitty said, you can buy it off the shelf in Boots. Just don't, under any circumstances put it on just after shaving or it will burn the underarms off you!

How fit are you? Your level of fitness, general nutrition and health play a massive role in how much you sweat.

When i was overweight i sweated a lot so i ended up using Driclor which worked but i can only presume Driclor is very bad for you. But now that i have got lot fitter I don't need anything and i dont need to touch things like Driclor.

Being overweight can exasberate sweating but it's not always the case. My sister and aunt have excessive sweating as well and none of us are overweight. Neither was the friend who suggested Driclor. Sometimes people simply have too many over active sweat glands. I remember in the middle of winter when I had a rucksack on, I'd come home freezing but there were sweat patches under my arms from wearing the rucksack :o

Yep, same here. I've never been anywhere near overweight. Always been very fit and healthy. But during most of my teenage years I had overactive sweatglands in my armpits. Didn't wear a coloured t-shirt for years. And it didn't matter if it was hot or cold outside! Same with my brother. He used to rip the piss outta me for sweating so much and then the same thing happened to him once he turned about 18

Luckily I grew out of it, amazingly. But used perspirex once I discovered it and it worked great :)

I'm not saying being overweight is the only cause of sweating but it is one cause of sweating and it was for me.

Try Driclor! Its a lifesaver. You can get it in most chemists like Boots. Its on the shelf so u dont even have to ask for it. It can irritate your underarms the first few times you use it so i would advise not to use on just shaved/waxed underarms, put it on at night before u go to bed and wash off in the morning, and use a good non-perfumed mosturiser like nivea. After time you wont need to use it as much. I dont really use it at all now, just every couple of months :)

Same for me. At first I used it every day for a week, then it was every second day, then once a week and now it's like once a month. It really is a life saver! And just to reiterate the point, don't ever use it straight after shaving or it will burn like fire. I made that mistake once. ONCE ;)

If I were you, I'd go to a doctor and see is there an issue that requires medical intervention.

Another person that can't praise Driclor enough, have been using it just under the week. As the week is going on, it is starting to sting a bit more but you know what for the results I can put up with it. After this week, will start reducing to every second day and so on but its the most amazing thing ever. Actually saw results straight away after the first night I had applied it. Can't wait for the summer now so I can wear any colour tshirt without worrying about sweat!!

The only problem for me is I wish I had discovered this sooner!!! :D:D
