there is a dealer in limerick seling uk reg bmw audi some of these have over 100k miles and selling for around 19k-24k they will have irish plates when sold.
my question is most of these are 08 09 2010 with this mileage which seems very high indeed but are they a bargain or trouble down the road after the 3 month warranty runs out.
they all look very good but my worry is that the seller is not a main dealer and if i buy one and this dealer goes out of business i have no come back.
the deals claims that the milage is mostly moterway mile but in my opinion the engine has still done this milage what ever the driving conditions and resale or trade value would reflect this in a few years.
    any opinions on this thanks

I'd be looking for a vrt receipt and making sure the numbers match up.

    Very easy to clone.

I know the place you are talking about. They literally set up over night with about 40 cars so that was some amount of wedge being invested in stock. Very high prices imo given the mileage on them and short warranty being offered. They are obviously ex fleet being sourced from auction.

Just remember while I'd have no problem buying a high mileage car which has a full proven service history I would not pay big bucks for one because the Irish have a stigma against high mileage cars so resale value is poor when you go to sell it on.

Ex-company cars that have had the bollix thrashed from them. Very high mileage - short warranty? I'd run!

I'd steer clear of mileage that high on cars that new with such a short warranty. Resale value would be affected with high mileage also, as would an insurance payout in the event of an accident going by a claim I had recently after an accident.

You are better off goin over to the uk to buy in my opinion if you want a better choice of cars. I have bought twice in the uk and never an issue. The dealers are very professional and all background checks and service history is standand. They take the paperwork and administration a lot more serious than here in ireland. Not sure how feasible it is now to import though as the vrt rates have been changed again and the exchange rate isnt great at the moment (<85 pence)

decided to go elsewhere milage is a big issue for me and the possibility that he goes to the wall and the car might not be all it seems to be.thanks

Just bought a car from autoxpress.ie recently.

    Happy camper so far!

Anthony Gaffney, originally of autodirect.ie, set them up recently. Here's an article about him 2 years ago - http://www.joe.ie/business-money/money-jobs-features/game-changers-anthony-gaffney-autodirectie-0013946-1

I'm based in the south-east so they met me halfway in Portlaoise with the car I was interested in (UK import), and they checked out my trade-in at the same time.

I wasn't in a position to get my mechanic to check out the car (and I'm no mechanic!) so I paid the AA to do a vehicle inspection (300 euro or 269 euro if the inspection is being done for an AA member ;). The AA technican rang me the day of inspection and spent 20 min on the phone telling me all the checks he did! Car was good to go! AA then emailed me a report.

Autoxpress.ie organised the VRT, and put the Irish plates on her. I've no complaints so far, they were very pleasant to deal with, answered all my pre-sale questions via email. Even posted up a few cds I left in the trade-in!!

There is a 6 month warranty with the car, so I'll put up another post if anything comes up.

Hi 4 Bobs! I was expecting such a post :) My previous account was Nanor, but I had a lot of trouble getting into it I set up a new account.

But as you can see, you couldn't call me a serial poster! My post about autoxpress may seem a bit of a brown nose, but I think credit where credit is due! Don't worry, I'll be straight on boards if there's any issues with the warranty ;)
