Recently got a PS3 for christmas.. havent had much time to play it yet but the only games i have been playing are BLOPs and Borderlands 2.. looking for something new!

Maybe along the lines of FPS with online play? Or else RPG! Anyone got any suggestions? :)

Bioshock (first one), The Orange Box, Uncharted 2, God of War 3.

They're the must haves in my opinion.
    Battlefield 3 for multiplayer.

OK - first off go get Playstation Plus - each month there are great freebies there.
Over the last year and a half I have pulled down some great games for nothing - eg Darksiders.

In terms of what to get - have to agree with a lot of the above.
    In no particular order:

Resistance Fall of Man (online will be limited if there are still gamers there but found it far superior to 2 & 3, not sure how it has aged).
Darksiders 2 - has some RPG elements
    Orange Box - loved portal
Batman Arkham Asylum (was free on Plus there a few months ago).
Ratchet & Clank - Tools of Destruction / A Crack in Time - both are good fun, not too serious but enjoyable
Uncharted Drakes Fortune (There are 3 in the series, loved each but as above online is more likely to be there for the later ones).

Forgot to mention Far Cry 3, that's another one I'd put in the must have pile.

the walking dead. the point and click one from the psn store. honestly one of the best gaming experiences ive ever had. beats the tv show storyline by a mile!

far cry 3 and saints row 3 are equally as enjoyable games

Only catch is you need a good internet connection and download limit. And you need to keep up your subscription if you want to keep playing the games you downloaded.
    It's worth the money.

Also I always recommend Infamous as, along with the Arkham games, it's my favourite series on PS3. If you sign up to Plus, you get Infamous 2 and all these games marked as free

    But wait, there's more...
Any games purchased using a Plus discount are yours whether you keep an active subscription or not

OP, do you like JRPGs? If so, get Ni No Kuni. Also, Tales of Graces F is a good title, but not as good as Ni No Kuni. I hear Valkyria Chronicles is good, and I own it, but haven't gotten around to starting it yet, so can't recommend it personally.
