    hi

looking at a car on donedeal which has an nct till 04-14 but when checking on cartell it says the nct is out ???. the owner is adamant that he has a valid nct and has the paper work to verify it.

how can i check who is right as i have an insurance company that will only insure cars with a current nct !!.

    thanks in advance

Maybe get a NCT cert from the owner, and bring it to NCT centre for verification.
They should be able to help.

If I was a seller, in NO way would a prospective buyer be leaving me with original documents, without buying and I would not go travelling all over the place with a prospective buyer either. You might as well take a spin to the tax office and the previous owners house too for verification

That said, a level of trust had to be there between buyer or seller or as a buyer, I walk if I feel unsure about anything being sold

    OP, ring the NCT centre

When was it NCT'd? If its in the last few days there could well be a delay in cartell getting the details maybe?

Generally it's all up to both buyer and seller what can be arranged.
If it was my car which I'm selling had incorrect data on cartell, I would do everything I can to prove that my car is genuine.

It also depends how much interest you are getting in a car as a seller.
If you have 5 people viewing the car per day, surely you can tell half of themm to feck off if their requirements go to far.

But I f.e. have a car for sale advertised in many places, and for the last 2 months, I didn't receive even a single phone call.
I'm so desperate by now, that I could spend a whole day with the buyer willing to buy my car.

In vast majority of cases, when it comes to private vehicle sale, it's the buyer who is at most risk.

Try to book it into NCT online, if it already has NCT is should say so*

*guess, I've never tried this myself. Maybe someone can verify?
