    Hi,

I'm building my first desktop, and am wondering if anyone could comment on the following PSU:

    Thanks.

Fill in the sticky in tis forum for us to most ably help you.

AFAIK, that's not a great PSU. * It's about quality over quantity (wattage means very little). Most likely a Super Flower 450w should do, although this depends on your components. Fill in the sticky.

*Apparently it's not bad, but my suggestion is certainly of decent quality, and quite a bit cheaper too.

Not a terrible PSU by any means, 55 amps on the 12v rail seems decent. There is a review here

though i would suggest you take a look at a few more reviews. The main thing is it suitable for your build? You could get a better lower wattage unit for the same price if you dont need that much power. Also the efficiency of these PSUs operate on a curve, so if you have an over powered PSU, you'll likely be operating at a lower efficiency and wasting power. If your not the one paying the esb bill though i wouldnt worry about it :pac:

Put up your planned build specs and we can guestimate whether you need a 700 watt unit or not.

Thanks for your help! These are the main components in the build I'm currently working with:

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660Ti OC, 2GB
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB, SATA 6Gb/s
    SSD: Samsung SSD 840 120GB SATA 6Gb/s
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Box, LGA1155
    Motherboard: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP, Sockel 1155, ATX
    RAM: 8GB G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-10667U CL9

Although it isn't something I've really considered, the more energy efficient the better really!

Realistically, I'd like the option to SLI in future, so would want an appropriate PSU. This isn't a major concern at the moment though.

The Corsair CX750 750W might be better suited?

    Thanks again.

I dont think that motherboard supports SLI, only crossfire? So thats that option out. The superflower amazon listed by Gumbi would easily handle that build sans SLI, as you wont be overclocking either on that motherboard.

It does have an annoying blue led though which is really bright and stands out in a dark room! For other options some of the be-quiet PSUs, seasonic and the XFX ranges have a good rep on here. Feel free to go for the corsair if you want, but its more power than you need, and there are probably cheaper alternatives that should perform just as well.
