Be grateful if someone could share any positive experiences about Turkish Airlines - only ever seem to hear bad things about them from friends and colleagues!

Flying to Afica next week with them for the first time - noramally fly BA or Ethiad which is always a pleasant journey. This time Turkish Airlines were super cheap so opted for them.

However, you cannot seem to book seats online until 24 hours in advance - panicking since I'm tall and need as much leg room as possible ! Any way around this?

Is their flight from Dublin to Istanbul generally full and what is their Long Haul Service like ?

    Many thanks !

I've flown with them a lot in the last year and they are one of my favorite airlines. Good food, new clean aircraft, great staff..
Yes Dub-IST are always nearly full, but you cant book a emergency seat online with TA, it has to be requested at checkin.
Only grip is Atttaurk is new modern but always very over crowded if you want an exe lounge none of those accessible to non star alliance members have flat chairs, its very difficult to do a long transfer there.

Note their checkin times and because the checkin closes much earlier than other airlines...

    +1

The lounge would be astonishingly good if it didn't have a similar population to Mumbai at peak times.

We went to Istanbul with them a couple of weeks ago, no complaints whatsoever. I'm 6'2'' and the first thing I noticed upon sitting down was that my knees had space to move!! (all my flights in the last year have been either EI, RE or FR, so this legroom was a big bonus). Also, there seemed to be almost constant service, none of your "bring out the food then disappear for the rest of the flight" that you get with many airlines.

All in all, we found it to be very positive

I flew them to Beijing last year.... great service and new modern aircraft all the way. As above, only complaint I had was the transit in Istanbul as the airport was very busy and therefore uncomfortable at time.
Another thing is their B777 had no overhead air vents so sitting on the ground in Istanbul was not comfortable as the heat and humidity in the cabin was not pleasant.

    Enjoy your flight....

hi, just wondering if anyone has had any experience of flying with young kids on Turkish Airlines from Dublin. Looking at heading to middle east later in year and TA are so much cheaper than Etihad/Emirates. We've a 3yo and an infant. Do TA have baby bassinets on their planes?

I flew to South Africa with them via Istanbul a few weeks back - the flight from Dublin was a 2 class configuration Boeing 737 - did not see any baby bassinets

On the Long Haul flight to Cape Town they did have these bassinets - I'd suspect they may not have bassinet's on your flight's as they may also use a Boeing 737 from Istanbul to the UAE - check the type of plane they use
