ONKYO TX-NR515 Remote control setup?

Guys just a quick question about the Onkyo TX-NR515 and how to remote control all the devices connected via HDMI.

It will be my first real purchase of an amp so I am kinda trying to get my head around how it works.

Let's say i have my TV,STB,PS3, WIN8 based HTPC, etc running through the ONKYO then how would the remote control control all the attached devices?

So all the above would be connected via HDMI into the ONKYO, with one HDMI then back up to the TV, and all the above devices in via the one HDMI source on the TV.
I see that there is a little GUI that the TX-NR515 has so I'm guessing this will show up when I select the tv source, and I will use the onkyo from this point to select the desired attached device (tv,stb etc) and then once selected have to use the actual remote for the selected device?

Or does the remote for the ONKYO have universal capabilities ? But how would that work say with the PS3 and WIn8 HTPC?

Such a noob question I know, but I'm a bit muddled as to how to remote control all the attached devices to the Onkyo.

    Ta in advance.

    L

I use a harmony 700 with sky box ps3 and wd tv live all connected to TV via an older onkyo receiver. Had to get a Logitech adapter to covert IR to blue tooth for the PS3

But it works a treat. So easy to setup using the Logitech software. Not sure about the HTPC but I think the harmony can be setup to control this too. You can check compatible products on their website.

Would definitely recommend it, replaced 5 remotes with one and can set multiple activities to turn on and off devices and change inputs on the receiver with a single button. The 700 has a more limited number activities than more expensive harmony one which I had before but it is better for the sky box as it has physical Color buttons rather than setting them on the touch screen which I found awkward to use.
