I see one of the boardsies has written another book to follow on from the Shay Elliott story. I thought Elliott was great and am looking forward to getting this one...

(Ps Beasty gansai is Irish for Jersey!)

    All he'll need is

An bhuill cead agam dul go di an leatheras....

(Got me though secondary school and the leaving cert (only half joking, remember passing a comphrension test in Irish purely as it was about Stephen Roche and I pretty much knew all the answers :o))

Had a similar experience, I lucked a preprepared answer about an ill-fated cycle to Wicklow for the oral. Had learned the Irish for concussion, convulsion and reverse camber turn . The first question was do you have any hobbies, the second was have you ever fallen of your bike. After my monologue I was asked if I had spent much time in the Gaeltacht, I knew Nil was wrong but did know how to say no so I just stared back for the last 10 seconds. Given the my earlier fluency I presume the examiner thought I was having another convulsion.

Is "the Shay Elliott story" any good?

It's not yellow!!!! It's the curse of the RAINBOW jersey!!!

So: "Mallacht gheansaí an bhogha báistí" should be pretty close....

... awaits the senior pedantic Paddies.

Looking forward to reading it. It's out now for Kindles. Hard copies imminent I believe

Yeah, it's a very well researched chronology of his life. Perhaps too much so if you are more interested in a bit of light background reading of that cycling era, but I liked it.

Have the new one now too, next up on my to read list.
