May as well start up the usual bitching and back-slapping. :D See a lot of boardsies names in the full results, at least ten of ye.

Who was riding in the boards.ie kit?

The guy wearing boards kit was off before me - he was one of the guys on the TT rig correct?

Enjoyed the night - if enjoyable is the correct phrase?
Set a target based in previous times/similar stretches of road. Beat that time by 3minutes and came 41st overall.
Slow by most folks standards but I was very very happy with my effort.
My avg HR over the 5k was 93% of my max so I really don't believe that I could have pushed harder. Smarter yes, but not harder.

I thought i was going well and felt ok, but when I saw finish line about 500m up the road untried to dig deep to put in a final kick - there was nothing at all in legs. Disappointed at that. Passed by my 30s and minuteman at that point.

Despite being relatively slow I do like the effort involved in TTs.

That was me in the new style(pink) boards jersey. I think there might have been another boards jersey up there also, as I heard a marshall comment "Another boards jersey".

That TT was a shock, I'm a lot slower than my times last year, will be putting in some work to fix that for the next TT.

I warmed up nicely with the spin up from templeogue then a short ride on the course. But once i was waiting around in glencullen for a few minutes i got completely frozen and felt fairly awful during the 5km.

Good to have the Thursday night racing back - it'll soon feel like summer now won't it? WON'T IT!?!?

Happy enough with how I rode that one last night, I think I'm slowly getting better at them. I didn't pay any attention to distance/time - just heart rate. Knew the kicker at the end would have to be done at sprint pace, but don't think I went into it fast enough. Next time...

Was good fun, showed how much untrained I am but I already knew that. It was nice to be there spitting my guts out.

Yeah, that was chilly alright, my legs were nice and limber from the cycle out, but I never warmed up fully - my fault for trying to conserve energy. So I felt completely awful at the start, initially because I went off too hard, but then for another 3 or 4 minutes while I adjusted to the effort level. I remember distinctly thinking after 500m, "Oh feck, I don't have the energy for this", but by the time I got to the halfway mark I had settled into it.
That last KM is a bit of a bitch. You're starting to flag, your brain is thinking "c'mon! two minutes! you can do this!" but you look at the computer and it's reading 23-24km/h and the previous 7 minutes riding at 95% max HR have taken it out of you. No matter what you do you can't get your speed up so all you can do is look at the road and just pound the pedals to avoid going any slower.

It was fun. I think going too hard at the start lost me 5-10 seconds overall as I tried to get my HR back down, but I came 4th in my class, so for my first race I'm not going to complain. Especially since I've been worried that my fitness had gone to crap over the winter.

That could be the end of me for this season though. Got a new job which doesn't finish till 6 at the earliest :/. Not sure if I can make it from town to any of the courses in time for sign-on.
I might have to take a few Thursdays off over the summer so I can get out.

I saw your time Seamus. Excellent for a first time racer. You should be very pleased.

Really enjoyed that and have to say it was expertly run – everything worked like clockwork. There’s some seriously impressive times in there, including from a couple of boardsies towards the very top. Chuffed with how it went myself, I beat my target and while I think I could squeeze out maybe another 20 seconds with better pace balancing and aero position (something I need to work on in general, but in particular when going uphill I sit too upright), I was gasping at the finish line so knew I’d done a pretty good job of emptying my tank so was well happy with it.

Buffalo – was that you who did it but couldn’t record a time due to missing sign-on (recognise you from saying hello on the way back from the Lucan GP)? Did you really do an 08:10 or was that taking the p1ss? Mega-Chapeau if you did!

ha! No I did not. I did do 8'35" by my clock, so was annoyed that I missed sign-on. Was working a little later than normal, and have to cycle over from Drumcondra. Would've appreciated a bit of leniency, but rules are rules, and I was there about 15mins after it closed, not like it was two minutes or anything.

Seems like the segment is slightly long, or the finish line was slightly short. I stopped the clock on the line to get an accurate read, and didn't register with the Strava segment.

Well with an 8:35 the Mega-Chapeau still applies for sure!

You'd think Ras winners would be deserving of more respect. If I had been there I would have held your bike at the start, driven to the finish and recorded your time, then pinched your bum as you stood on the podium in front of all the losers. Shame on Orwell!

haha! I was tempted to pull a "do you know who I am!?" routine :p but I was the one who arrived 15 minutes late. I did only think I was five minutes late, but sign-on closed at 18.50 (which was publicised in advance). You can be my soigneur next time!
