Do Molson Coors not make Coors Light, Blue Moon etc.. or am I missing something?

    Was it nice?

Edit: Ah I see Molson Coors does not = Coors, exactly...

Molson Coors = Blue Moon, Grolsch and a few other "big" beers.

They also own Sharp's and Adnams in the UK.

They also recently bought the Franciscan Well Brewery from Shane Long.

I spotted the Molson Canadian 4x4 in town this morning.

They've been here since 2009, mainly pimping Blue Moon, Grolsch and Carling. They just recently launched "The Craft Collection" as an umbrella brand for Blue Moon, Sharp's, Franciscan Well, Worthington's and probably more to come.

I'd say it's only a matter of time before they take Coors Light back from Heineken Ireland. They own Staropramen too and I think that's still distributed here by C&C, so another they'll likely be taking back if they haven't already.

40ft Bar & Grill in Dun Laoghaire tweeted that they have it now.

A new beer to add to our selection - Molson Canadian.... Canadian water, prairie barley, and no preservatives! #yum

Molson Canadian went into Dunnes last week, they want it to replace Heineken. I was talking to one of coors reps last week, Coors are targeting the other big breweries with this one, they have invested heavily in craft beers(Franciscan well) and are trying to break into the premium lager market with the Canadian beer.

There's a "new" Blue Moon called "Valencia Grove Amber" - it's not very nice

    Sure you don't mean Worthington?

Went into an off licence last week and saw a new stand with Worthingston's and something else I cant remember now. Big wooden type stand saying craft beer is here.

Funny thing is they were selling those beers for years before hand but anyway I am sure we will see a lot of this kinds stuff being pushed.

Hopefully it doesn't push smaller breweries out of shops.

One thing that I liked - I was at their "launch night" in Farrington's last night, few "testers" and lovely cheese to go with the beers. Really good idea actually, but the thing I liked - it wasn't busty blondes bursting out of white t-shirts giving out the beers, it was lads in jeans.

Sure, they are pushing the craft angle, fair play to them.

Yep, purchased a can in Dunnes today.

I think it tastes a lot like Budweiser..

Bought some Leann Folláin aswell though, as back up!

Had a sampler in Mulligans on Poolbeg street today. (They also have Blue Moon)

It was fairly bland and poor. A touch of malt and very little carbonation. It was smooth enough but very bland, and is not different from many pale lagers out there.

This is exactly why I wasn't pleased to hear they bought out the Fran Well. Molson Coors can offer these "craft" beer stands to off licences and then throw in a few free crates if the owners promise to get rid of the other craft beers i.e. exactly what they do in the pubs.

I dunno. Molson are very much behind the craft beer scene here. They don't really have anything themselves that can compete with main stream beers, Carling included.

They were giving out samples in Brady's in Shankill the other night.
It smells awful and tastes of nothing. Follows a similar vein to Guinness Black Lager - A big marketing budget for a bland, average at best, mass market product.

saw it in dunnes saturday in limerick but at 4%abv i was put off a bit, might try it when its available on a special offer, the stuff in canada is 5% abv and they think its muck

Had a pint in McDaids the other night, its basically Budweiser.
They obviously realise they need to launch a fairly bland beer to appeal to the widest demographic. Pity as its probably the worst mainstream Canadian beer.

I had a chilled bottle of it last night and I'd say it's similar to Miller but I can see why people say Budweiser as well.

Haven't tried it yet, but by the sounds of it I won't be bothered.
What's the point of launching another bland tasteless beer, presumably at the same price as all the other bland tasteless beers?

What are the doing the Franciscan Well brewery? Are they going to continue to produce the same range of beers as before or will they be bringing over some of their 'expertise' to produced a new range?

Fran Well probably won't have the capacity to produce any of the MC main brands but I've been told they will be brewing some of the Blue Moon seasonal specials.

Barman in the halfway house was sound enough to give me a half glass to taste. Best way for me to describe it is that it is like a watery bud

I saw a 20bottle case for 20euro with two free glasses today. Sigh, if only they waited and promoted the **** out of FW instead!

Today at my place of work, it was a case of down with the Guinness signs and up with massive "blinding white" Molson Canadian advertising hoarding, i've never seen a new beer to Ireland so heavily pushed. They've also bought the rights to two fridges also, meaning a lot of the European and craft beers have been squeezed into the other fridge, and some of Heinken's stuff has lost a facing or two. And it's funny because they currently only have maybe 7 beers (MC can, MC bottle, Grolsch, Carling, Carling Zest, Blue Moon and Cobra, so that's 7 products for two fridge doors, and next to it there's one fridge door for maybe 20 beers - all of which are better sellers! But money talks i guess.

I think Molson Coors have made a grave error in brewing Molson Canadian at only 4%. Yes the packing and colour is good, but this is the beer they plan to beat Budweiser and Heineken with, yet it's weaker than their 4.3% stuff. Everyone is commenting on it, and a lot of people won't pick it up because it's relatively weak. They should have aimed for 4.3% minimum and even 4.5% - although the higher ABV would involve paying higher excise duty. At the moment it's selling because customers are picking it up out of curiosity. We'll know by the middle of June whether it's gonna be a hit or not. It's currently priced at €1.50 per can or 9.99 for the 6 pack of bottles. The can is favourably priced in comparison with their two main rivals. We've been told that we can expect to see the Francisan Well bottled range some time in the next six-twelve months, which is great news as i'm sure they will sell well.

We've also taken these two beers from them - Dead Crow, a bourbon flavoured beer, and Cuvana, a rum flavoured one.

It's One Euro a bottle in Centra - Looks to be Bland by all accounts.
I'd rather spend the euro on something else.

Its purely based on its ABV that I wont be bothering with it
