The focus has only 2 interior light one over the gear stick and only one in the back corner as you open the boot. As its a van I often look for stuff in the back when it's dark and there is not enough light. So I was wondering if I change both the lights to led would this mean more light. There seems to be different types some have 4 LEDs others 16 LEDs. Which should I get. Where is the best place to buy them ? I don't want to spend big money on them. Also is it worth changing the number plate lights. Any website links advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is a festoon bulb that is used in the boot and interior. They are available in LED. Check your local motor factors and see if they carry Philips bulbs. They may not have them in stock, but they are available next day at least. I see your in Kilkenny, try Top Parts, I know they can get Philips.

Is there anywhere online that sells these bulbs? I had a look the front light is a festoon bulb. The rear light is just a bulb with a flat end that slots straight into the holder rather than screws in. They are often used as parking lights. I assume an led version can be got of this bulb.

I wouldn't go for anything over 2 LEDs for interior. I used blade type LEDs that have one each side and are a direct replacement for any w5w bulbs. I changed out my courtesy lights, boot lights and one set of interior courtesy light and used festoon with heat sinks in them in the license plate lights to avoide them over heating and melting. They've worked perfectly and look oem for 12 and 13 audis.

I swapped out my OEM bulbs for LEDs recently. Really happy with the extra light and the colour difference is nice as well.

One thing to note when swapping to LED is the light temperature/Colour. I went for about 6k kelvin so they have a hint of blue, normal oem where about 2.5k Kelvin.

I got them from eBay, guy from Tallaght sells them and ships them super fast, no joke, ordered before lunch on a Tuesday, they arrived Wednesday morning.

    Sure, the username is pandpwebstores.

Also another thing to remember about buying LED's. If your car has a canbus interface make sure to get the compatible bulbs otherwise you'll get a dash error.

there are adaptors for the different bulb fitments.
again plenty of kits on eBay
some have small boards of LEDs for inside the light dome.
the LED strips TopDog used can also be got with the same plugs or can be soldered onto the connector.

EDIT: If you are making LEDs fit your purpose be sure to check the polarity before final fitting.
LED/SMDs will only work one way round.

AFAIK that error only applies to exterior bulbs ie numberplate, sidelights.
the interior lights should be fine
