Property Tax liability notification in my name but I don't own the house?

    How ya lads.

Old housemate phoned me today, a letter arrived from revenue for me so I asked her to open it up in the vague hope it was a refund of over payment of tax last year. Alas it was not.

What it was, was a notification that I was registered as the owner or person liable for the payment of property tax at the said address.

I am not only not the owner, I also haven't lived in the house since June last year, so I'm definitely not liable for the payment.

    What do I do now?

You need to get the letter of assessment that Revenue have sent out and to fill it in and tell them you are not liable.

The exact same thing happened me, the letter was addressed to me and not my landlord.

There is a section on the letter to fill out the name of the person who is the property owner.

You should make sure that you do fill out this letter as otherwise Revenue could technically make you liable for the tax if you don't make a declaration.
