Running groups/training in Dublin city centre

    Morning,

Do any of you folks know of running groups that train in Dublin city centre, either in the mornings or at lunch? I've just moved home from Australia and I'm looking to train with a group similar to the one I trained with in Sydney. This group ran at lunchtime and had some pretty fast runners. I was about middle of the pack (sub 3 hour marathon and 37 min 10k). We did intervals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10-20k easy runs Mondays and Wednesdays.

I've looked at clubs but they mostly train in the evenings and that doesn't really suit me with work. I'm training for the Western States 100 in June and Berlin in September so it would be good to train with others at a similar level or faster.

    Cheers,
    Rob

I don't know the name of the group but I was reading in the Irish Runner about some fast group that meet at Trinity College at lunchtime.

That would be perfect. Was it the latest edition of Irish Runner?

afaik civil service train at Trinity at lunch time....

you should think about joining a club.....37 mins is pretty decent for 10k and I'm sure most clubs would be glad to have you.

The trinity group at lunch are good and prob at your level.

I'd be up for a morning run or two on the other mornings. I usually go out the quays and on to clontarf and back as it minimises traffic lights and apart from the port its decent scenery.

I wouldn't go out buying the Irish Runner to get the name, it wasn't mentioned in the article. Anyway its probably one of the groups the guys above mentioned.

There are a couple of groups that use the cricket pitch in trinity during the summer. I don't think they are back yet as i am based in trinity and haven't seen them on the pitch.
I don't know the name of the group but i can post here when i see them back on the cricket pitch.
Also the grass track has not been marked out yet but that is not surprising given the weather.

I'm part of the group that trains in Trinity during the summer months. The pitch usually opens around the first week of May. Sessions on Tues & Thurs @ lunchtime

    All welcome:)

Excellent. What kind of sessions do you do? And is that 1pm lunchtime or 12.30pm lunchtime? Keen to get involved.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Here's the kind of lunch run training we did in Sydney:

Lunchtime sessions would suit me perfect - can never make evening club training sessions as too late by the time kids collected from creche and fed, put to bed etc.

Wish they did that planning in my club rather than having to turn up to see what is the planned session.

This isn't a club. Just a group of like minded guys and girls who work in Sydney CBD and need to do some quality training on weekdays.

I saw a large group (around 30 - 40) running in the Phoenix Park at aroung 6.30pm today, near the Wellington Monument - anyone know what club it is?

Passed through trinity at lunchtime today and the running track was marked out on the cricket pitch.

There were a couple of group out doing sessions and there was what appeared to be a fast group out so i presume the group has started back up again.

Would have been a lovely day for a lunchtime run.
