well lads, just wondering has anybody made or have plans for a homemade bipod? Theyre very expensive for what they are. Im not talking about a stupid ''youtube'' one though, a decent mounting and hinge mechanism is hard to come up with :)

Harris run anywhere up to €130.
    Deben up to €90.

You can buy a cheap one from flea-bay for €12-€15. I bought one a while ago. It's mounting system was it screwed into the hole for the QD stud, but other than that was fairly robust, and almost the exact same in weight, etc. So i took the screw out of it, welded on an adaptor (Harris No.6 for €6), and it now attaches to a European rail.

For a total cost of €20 you can't go wrong. I can see the point if you want a Harris/Deben duplicate, but cheaper. Just a matter of your skill level, determination, and mostly is the work worth the saving.

I'd imagine it would be incredibly difficult to make a proper functioning bipod. I bought a cheap one off ebay for €28, its spring loaded and everything..... but its a chinese knock off and very cheaply made. The only thing it doesnt do is pivot which I didnt know at time of purchase. I spent €130 on a great one from Shooters Ridge a few years back. It was worth every single penny. Although a lot of money its very well worth it. A good bipod is nearly as important as a good scope IMO

Id much rather have a good scope. I can live without a bipod.
