    ...with the better half.

Did Croatia last year and Slovenia the year before. I fell in love with Croatia but she doesnt want to go back so soon :(

Narrowed it down to three options. We usually have between 10-14 days and like to visit a number of places. Could any of you help me or recommend which of the following would be best

    1. Fly into Santander in Spain. Visit Bilbao, San sebastian then into the south of France and Bordeaux before flying home.

    2. Fly into Rome, up to Florence then a couple of other places in Northern Italy before returning home.

    3. Fly to Greece an do some island hoping there. Sounds lovely but the planning of that is daunting

Cant make my mind up and am swapping between each option. Any help would be appreciated :D

They all sound appealing, you will enjoy whichever you choose, so you might as well toss a coin!

I've been Greek island hopping a few times and planning to go in September again. It's not difficult at all once you narrow down your islands you will visit and it's a fantastic holiday. The peak months are July and August- the ferries get very busy around then and accommodation prices go up. I would recommend going outside of those months.

For your first option, I can only comment on South of France. We were there two wks ago for first time in Nice and absolutely loved it- can't wait to go back!

And your second option, I've been in Florence and surrounding area of Tuscany and up to the lakes in the North and it is great also. Check out Lucca and Cinque Terre also.

As an alternative to Croatia you could look at flying into Dubrovnik and driving going to Montenegro for a few days, down through Albania and ferry to Corfu- fly home with Aerlingus from Corfu! That way you get a bit of Croatia and a Greek island and Fabulous Montenegro in between! Seemingly Albania is opening up to tourism. I'm going to Montenegro in may so may get to visit Albania too.

But if I had to pick from your 3, I'd pick Greek islands!

    Thanks Kittywake. Very helpful.
Spent three days in Montenegro when we were in Croatia last year :)
Loved it. We were the very first Irish people to stay in our hotel. Would like to try Albania though. Heard its lovely.

Can I ask you a little about Greece? We are going in June. What islands would you recommend? We are a young couple but like to go off on bits of adventures during the say. No interest in party islands.

Agree with above, did 14 days in Greece and it was amazing, has a bit of everything.

Id reccomend Santorini as a couple, its gorgeous! Flights back through London as well which makes it a great last stop

Also just back from Tuscany (albeit only for three nights). It is great but as a summer holiday id pick the greek islands. Depends what you are into really

How about flying to Verona and then Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples and then on to Brindisi for a ferry to Greece and island hop from there?

Sounds lovely but we did Venice a few years ago and neither of us enjoyed it. Plus we have just 10/11 days so might be fitting in too much for that

naughtb4, my thinking is we would prefer Greece to Italy as we both fell in love with Croatia last year and i believe Greece and croatia are quite similar.
