Laptop not charging or turning on without battery

Hi, just looking for some help with my laptop. I have an Acer Emachines e732z and it won't charge at all. The red battery light keeps flashing when I press the power button. I've tried taking out the battery and connecting it to the power to use it that way but thats not working either. Do I need to get a new battery or a new charger? or is it the laptop itself? Any help would be appreciated please!

Sounds like you need a new charger. Flashing red light indicates the battery is low hence why it won't turn on.

Nobody here can help you with that. It could be the battery or the laptop. Bring it into a PC repair shop and it will take literally 1 min to find the cause of the problem. If their charger works just buy a new charger. If not you possibly have a few options.

It sounds like the charger unit is defective because (1) the battery is flat which means its not getting charged and (2) the laptop won't work even with the power adapter connected with no battery.

If the laptop worked without the battery then I'd suspect the battery had reached it's end of life but it looks to me like the power adapter (charger) is the problem.

It could just as easily be a fried motherboard, or a broken DC jack.
