I"m thinking about joining a running club in the Dublin area. I'm not a beginner, but I'm definitely no Seb Coe either. My PB for 10k is 46mins. Are there clubs that cater for average runners looking to improve on their time. Thankyou.

    Regards

    Ray

There are plenty of clubs who have groups for all levels. In what particular area are you looking for a club and perhaps people will be able to give you recommendations and feedback as club members of particular clubs

Best advice is to find a club near you - http://www.athleticsireland.ie/content/?page_id=5994

If its a pain for you to get to, then you will miss sessions and loose value from the whole thing. But pick the one close to your home or work and you will be able to get to club sessions easily

Best thing is to look at a local 10k. Look at the results and the associate clubs with people of finish times as yourself or better. Make a shortlist, do research into each to see if training times, distance suits and take your pick. Also can be good to have a look at their website and see if they have a photo gallery. This will show you what kind of mix male/female and age demographic is typical for the club. It is always nice to join a club that caters for a wide variety so you have really experienced runners to learn from and novices to mentor. http://www.athleticsireland.ie/content/?page_id=5996 will give you a list of those near you.
