    Hey,

I was just hoping to get some feedback as to my rights regarding buying second hand items online.

I bought an Iphone 4 via paypal in December. The deal was done outside ebay but the phone is constantly turning off and clearly faulty.. I only recently contacted the seller 4 months after the purchase and he is not replying!

What are my rights with regards to a refund? Am I protected through paypal?

Sorry If this is posted in the wrong category!

You have none if the deal was conducted outside of EBay.
And 90 days from the date of transaction to lodge a complaint with Paypal.
Looks like your stuck with it. Bad luck but it was obviously working when you
Got it or you wouldn't have accepted it, it's the risk you take with second hand
    Items.

Maybe try Apple if its still in warranty or one of the shops that repair phones.

If the phone was on eBay and you bought it outside of eBay, even PayPal won't protect you. You have no rights in a second hand deal by the way unless its in a physical or registered business in Ireland. Forget chasing anyone outside the country unless its for a very large sum of money. And even then your rights are limited purely by the fact its being sold clearly as 'second hand' Its absolute caveat emptor.
