Would this be possible at all?

If you had a sliding door (e.g. like a regular sliding patio door) with one fizxed panel and one sliding panel and you removed it and stuck a sliding rail under the ffixed panel so that you had two sliding panels...would that work at all? It would be internally so locking/ security not an issue.
Or would it be a total botch job? I could create an opening to fit the correct height of either slider...

    Any advice appreciated.

Normally these arent made up of 2 panels. It's normaly the case that the fixed side is a part of the framework for the whole unit so it cant be removed as the rail for the sliding panel is attached to the top and bottom of the fixed panel.
