    Hi Guys
Looking for some info . I am thinking about dipping my toe into a bit of racing.
I have never raced before . But have been cycling for a good number of years and been competing in duatalons and triathlons for a number of years .. So I have a bit of pace on the bike over short distances .. I also have done numerous sportives .. First question after reading some of the post on here
1.can I upgrade my standard cycling licence to a race licence at anytime of the year ?
    2. What's kinda distances are we talking about for a4 races. ?
    3. What's the pace like for A4 racing ie: what kinda standard do you need to be to not be left peddling at the rear on your own

    Any info appreciated

    1. I'm not sure so I'll say nothing on this

    2. Max will be 80km. If you do any stage races like the Charleville two day there'll be a tt in the morning/ evening and a road stage which the sum total is more than 80k but exception proves the rule

    3. If you've competed regularly in endurance events for a couple of years then your base should be fine. The biggest difference will be the pacing. Triathlons are long time trials where you can't draft and the strongest man wins. In cycling racing drafting dictates most of the tactics and the pace will fluctuate a lot due to attacks etc, so recovery from anerobic efforts to threshold power is important to develop. As well if you are strong don't drill on the front too much unless it serves a clear purpose. You'll get robbed. The speed varies between 32 to 40km/hr for A4 but again its power output that's important speed is very relative to the conditions
