High heart rate

Since January I've been going to classes in the gym (spinning, boot camp, step aerobics etc.) very pleased with my results, have lost 3 inches around waist, 10lbs of fat and gained 2lbs of musclce, body fat down from 25.1 to 20.2%

    Anyway enough feeling smug!

My resting heart rate is 51 bpm. I find that when going to spinning and step my heart rate regularly goes over 192 which is my calculated maximum (220 - my age). Normally it's under 200 though but my heart rate went up to 217bpm last week doing sprints with a decent amount of resistance at spin.

Just wonderign is there any danger in a brief heart rate up here? Or am I pushing myself too hard? I felt fine during spinning, knew I was pushing myself like but not dizzy or anything

How are you measuring you HR? Gym equipment or personal compuer?

It's more than likely an inaccurate reading. It's very unlikely you could only perform at your maximum for any length of time so whatever method you are using I would take it a pince of salt.

Spin classes are tough but its doubtful you would ever reach your max hr and maintain it.

The 220 minus your age is an average and could be way off. You should get your rate by doing a proper test.

The bike or HMR reading of 217 might not be accurate. Temp spikes happen due to bad skin contact.
But if you heart was actually that high, then 197 isn't your max heart rate by definition.

U get any answers? I went for a 4k run 2day more a jog except the last k but my max heart rate was 209bpm and the average was 131bpm on the heart rate monitor, kinda freaked out a tad

if you're worried book an appointment with a cardiologist?

c.€280 for a review and stress test, half back on insurance if you have it then 21% off the rest via the end of year med 1 form.

at least you wont worry about pushing yourself too hard

if its exercise induced you'll need an EEG and a stress test to get the answers youre looking for

A EEG or a ECG? Is EEG not to do with the brain and the ECG to do with the heart?
