Hi,just wondering is it safe enough now to plant my potatoes now that the current cold spell is coming to an end.

id say one or maybe two here might see it differently, my source sees no change in the current weather, for the nexy 4-5 days anyway, anything further out can be relied on.

was talking to my bro in law there, its ploughed, and i think he said going to aggregate it , then put the drills in and possible set in a week or two.

hes just setting a small plot for himself, which i look at and I can see clearly 3/4 of an acre ready for setting

place is gone spud mad. . .

id say i eat 1 big spud in each dinner that id have spuds with. . which taking all types of meals in to account is about 2-3 dinners a week..

Its only when the stalks are above the ground that you need worry about frost. I'd say plant away while co.ditions are good now.

Are they earlies or maincrop? Plenty of time for mains yet. Indeed if you're sheltered inland you can get a very late frost doing harm, so you won't want them in too early!
