How do I fix my social life after relationship?

    Hi, I was in a long term relationship for 5 years until last year. I'm still young (early twenties), and have gone through the whole grieving process about it being over. One thing I'm finding difficult though is re-establishing any sort of social life for myself. A year on, and I'd still put my social life down as mediocre. Unfortunately (and I know its my own fault), I pretty much abandoned social activities because of the relationship. I never realised it would be this difficult to make new friends etc at my age. I'm finished college and not working so unfortunately I'm quite limited in where I can meet people. Has anyone who has been through something similar got advice on how to improve things?

    If social life can be destroyed, it can be built again too. Meeting new people is the key. Ending a relationship is hard, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. But the answer is really simple in my experience - new people. Social life is about live interaction with people. And to grow a bigger circle of people and activities you need fresh new import. Put it as a goal - to meet at least one new person a month and go to at least one new place. Diversity.
