Best cattle for summer grazing

    What are the best cattle for summer grazing? Would friesians around 300 kg be any good? I went to see a few advertised on donedeal they are either overpriced or poor quality or overpriced and poor quality.

    I dont really buy any for summer grazing but from what i see with friesians is that you would probably better off killing them rather than selling on in oct/ nov as forward stores. plain or underfed continentals or traditionals even from dairy bred stock would usually have a better market on in the year although friesians can be bought handy at the moment. Pudsey or bob will probably have better suggestions.

    what i do is buy in 350kg 1yr old bullocks, this year im averaging €850 from the mart. transporting myself.

    im up to 9 now with 12-14 in mind, will see on prices for the remaining ones.

    type, well. u cant buy what's not there.

    CHX, AAX LMX CH AA LM. . . thats what ive always had. . they seem to be the most popular, but again, i buy whats on sale. . . very little or no FR and take this for instance, 600kg FR bullock, built like a cow, born middle of july yesterday went 950. . .. totally no mkt for the animal. and most of the lighter types go 650-750.

    i hope to be down buying in the next 2 weeks, and hopefully selling big heavy animals come mid/late oct. . . . Nov if weather/grass permits. . . . basically. the longer held the heavier the animal going out the gate. .

    Lads that's nothing more than cutting your nose off to spite your face snobbery. What would a 600kg charolais of the same age make? Note I said make, not what they're worth.
