    Hi there,

I'm planning my wedding for next year and struggling to find a venue.

I really like the Carlton in kinsale but im very wary of the food . My parents have eaten in the bar a few times lately and have been very disappointed by it . If I thought the food was good id book it but the reviews etc are putting me off .

Has anyone attended a wedding there lately ? Any feedback would be welcome please

    Thanks

I was at a wedding there last summer and thought the food was excellent. And coming from me, that's a pretty big compliment as I'm a pretty fussy vegetarian! I particularly remember the dessert medley, which is a great idea I think (3-4 small desserts instead of one big one). The main was also really good. I usually end up with pasta and tomato sauce as the veggie option at weddings but they really but a bit of thought into it at the Carlton so would recommend them for that reason.

Sister got married there, best wedding I was ever at - everything perfect, not just the wedding, but the hotel, staff and everything around that put many other weddings to shame...

I'm getting married there soon, but have never been but I've heard great things.. A friend was at a wedding there last week and she said the food was fantastic,, the merrily of desserts wasn't the best but everything else was great,..

i got married there last summer and the food was the one thing we didn't have to worry about...they made everything perfect, we aren't into these posh named dinners nobody knows what they are, so they let us customize the set menu meal to suit ourselves.

they even let us change the way the menu was, so instead of starter soup main, it was starter or soup and then the main... and we had just apple tart or profiteroles or ice cream for dessert! my concern was having food that tasted good rather than looked good, but they did both (large portions too so no chance of going hungry) :)

the wedding co-ordinator was claire and she did everything we asked and more,

i cannot recommend the place enough, i had heard of bad things about it (between rude staff, bad food...etc) but i think all hotels get these kind of reviews from a disgruntled customer.

the only fault with the whole event that we had was our cake topper went missing, it was kind of our fault as we collected everything 2 days late (we were staying in the hotel) but it could well have been just lost with the chaos of two other weddings happening that weekend... (they only do one a day) or one of the children or a wedding guest who took it, we were gutted as it was specially made for us,

the wedding co-ordinator spent days getting back to me after speaking with all the staff to see if any of them saw anything, she also had staff combing the hotel room and kitchens for it but nada.

also worth noting it was raining heavily in Cork city all that day but we had clear blue skies and sunshine down there, its a lovely spot...

not one guest of ours could fault the food or the hotel afterwards...

Great to hear, am getting married there in October. Claire was a big part of what swung it for us (along with the great location and the lovely room), made us feel immediately comfortable and we hit it off well with her, and she's been in contact with us regularly.
