Considering purchasing either a Mavic CXP33 with Shimano 105 hubs wheel build or stock Aksium S wheelset, both around the same price.

Anyone got experiece of the CXP33 or 105 hubs specifically? Would it be a better or worse purchase than the Aksiums?

Ive seen the CPX33 mentioned more in Clydesdales threads for wheelsets for heavier lads
so they should be better built up if your a heavier lad with their 32H spokes.
Considering getting the same myself as I dont reckon the stock wheels on my new yoke aint
    gonna last too long.

Ah....well I'm about 68kg's so I don't think I'd be considered heavy. I'm just wondering how good they are (or not) compared with Aksium's?

    Hi,

I have had a set of cxp33 rims built on shimano ultegra hubs for ~10 years and have found them very good. During this time they would have covered ~50,000 miles in all weather. The hubs would have been stripped down with the bearings been re-greased once to twice a year.

I have the mavics for about 6 years on my training bike with ultegra hubs, haven't done a thing with them as regards maintenance and they still seem to be true to me. great wheel
