Im looking for advice on a build, it'll be primarily for gaming. I havent kept up to date with current hardware trends, so all advice is appreciated. This is what ive made up so far

    Item Description HDWVSD
    OS Windows 7 pro 129.00 €
    Case
Hard drive Intel 520 Series 240GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive 210.75 €
    Mobo Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H, Intel Z77, ATX 198.33 €
    RAM Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 Vengeance Memory 60.03 €
    Gfx card Asus GeForce GTX 660 2GB 212.43 €
Cpu cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2  17.13 €
    Power supply Salvage (850w corsair)
    Processor Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz 200.17 €
    DVD drive Salvage
    €1,027.84

Havent picked a case yet, so im open to recommendations. Preferably around 100 euro.
I dont plan on overclocking it in the near future.
Id prefer to go with an nvidia card, ive had 2 5870's crossfire in my current build but I found crossfire more of an issue since id have to wait for drivers for new games, the increased temps also caused issues. Ive seen users of this forum advising on AMD cards, is there a specific reason for this?

    Edit:
My budget is 1200 before delivery, I can increase that figure if there is enough reason to warrant it

If you're not overclocking, get the non-k CPU to save a few euro.

That is a pointlessly expensive mobo for a 1K, non-overclocking build in my opinion.

850W is also needlessly excessive for the PSU unless you plan running dual high end GPU's.

5870's in Crossfire are still very capable so you could easily keep them for your new build and make sure you have plenty of case fans and good ventilation. If you are going single card though, selling them should net you a huge portion of the cost of a new card. At that price range, I'd go for a 7950 card, Pixmania have them for 230 euro for example - much better than a GTX660 and they overclock like crazy, you can get 40% up on stock clocks.

The SSD, for the same money you could get a 120GB primary and a 2TB storage drive, but that's up to yourself.

You can get the stuff cheaper elsewhere but this is an example of what I'd choose for the 1k mark.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

So regarding the 5870's, one of them is playing up atm, I haven't done any real diagnostic yet but im pretty sure its borked, which is one of the reasons Ive decided to buy a new rig.

Ill be salvaging 2x 1TB HD's from my current rig so ill stick with the 240gb SSD. Also Ill be salvaging the Power supply, optical drive, fans.

I wasn't aware there was a non-clockable core i5. But Since its only an extra 20 euro ill stick with it. I probably will OC it in a couple years time when/if the slowness gets to me.

Ill certainly downgrade the mobo, not sure what I was thinking. The mobo you linked was surprisingly cheap but has plenty of good reviews. Ill match the ram too.

Ill up the 600 to the radeon 7950.

My revised build looks a bit like this
    Item HDWVSD
    OS €95.14
    Case €74.86
    Hard drive €210.75
    Mobo €81.99
    RAM €39.69
    Gfx card €258.17
    Cpu cooler €17.13
    Power supply
    Processor €200.17
    DVD drive
    €977.90

I wouldnt mind throwing an extra 100 euro in there, what would be the next thing to upgrade. Suppose Ill throw 30-50 on a soundcard.

Ill just double check reviews and comments for each part before throwing the order up tomorow night. Thanks again
