New film from Contraband director Baltasar Kormakur. Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg star as a DEA agent and a Naval Intelligence Officer investigating one another in the belief that they are each stealing money from the mob.

The trailer looks great. And Bill Paxton is the bad guy!

    in a word.... meh.

Not bad. Not great. Very predictible.

Or at least that was my opinion.

Looks, sounds and plays out fine, but is nothing to write home about.

The best scenes have Paxton in them. Overall, it's dumb as a bag of rocks but great fun for the most part. Never takes itself seriously and plenty of good quips throughout.

Saw it during the week. Found it very enjoyable. I like Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg and they seemed to enjoy themselves on screen.

Only flaw (or maybe I just missed it) was when
Washington finds the money in the hotel room at the end
. I dont think they explained how he got there. One scene he is some where. Next scene he is in the
    hotel
    .

Bill Paxton is great in it.

When she changes the ring on her finger. When we first see them together at the border arrest she does it and just before she is shot she does it. It was to let him know to meet her in the hotel room! So when he sees her dead body the ring on her different finger.

Just after watching this and really enjoying it. It's the kind of unpretentious genre fare that they rarely make anymore and the story felt like something Jim Thompson or Richard Stark would write. There's a real sense of restraint throughout and the drab pallette coupled with action scenes that don't glamourise the violence are a refreshing change of pace from Hollywood's usual output. Washington and Wahlberg are both on fine form and they play off one another really well. The contrast between their characters is interesting and the quips aimed at one another are for the most part quite witty.

Now don't get me wrong, there's a lot that the film could do better and it's little more than popcorn for the brain but as far as lazy Saturday night viewing goes it's a lot of fun
