Annie Power should get a Grade 1 under her belt in the mares race. Main dangers look to be from the same stable in Glens Melody and Zuzka.

I really fancy Some Tikket to run a big race in the Grade 2 novice hurdle on Sunday. The way he has travelled in all 3 of his runs so far has been very eye catching and I think he could be a bit special. Barry Geraghty is booked for this one and I'm hoping for a nice enough price as it's a good contest with the likes of Bright New Dawn and Defy Logic lining up.

Annie Power is forcast 10/11,will be best price about 4/11 I'd say,

I'd fancy welds or defy logic in the novice will wait to see what way they price it up.

I'd be a little worried about the trip for Annie Power. Obviously the best horse in the race but now 4/7 so she has to be opposed.

Glen's Melody at 7/1 is the value

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Trip wouldn't worry me one bit regarding Annie Power, I reckon she will improve with the step up to 2 and a half.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭SRFC

Will be leaving the Mares race along let her win at 4/7 very dangerous game backing them ladies,If she bolts up it will enhance the chance of Nolans horse Defy Logic and might well shorten him

Some Tikket is too big at 8/1 imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

I've taken the 8/1 about Some Tikket. Thought with the jockey booking of Barry Geragthy it would be shorter, obviously has to improve but he could be anything.

    3.25 Fairyhouse

    Pencilhimin 16/1

This one falls into the 'could be anything' category and invariably comes with a lot of risks given he's thrown into a competitive 21 runner handicap on just his 2nd start but if Gavin Cromwell's charge is anywhere near as good as his breeding suggests he could easily make both the bookmakers and handicapper look foolish by 3.30 tomorrow. A horse who has clearly had an awful lot of issues given that he only made his debut 15 days ago at the age of 8, Pencilhimin is a full brother to the wonderful Gold Cup winning War Of Attrition and he certainly showed that connections perseverance was justified when winning very easily at Limerick over 2m5f earlier this month. Jumping well for the most part, Robbie Power didn't have to get Pencilhimin out of 2nd gear as he went on to score by an easy 4.5L and it was a very pleasing effort on racecourse debut. Granted, that race was absolutely terrible but he couldn't have won much easier and he'll surely come on a lot both in terms of fitness and experience for that run. The handicapper could have made a massive, massive error in judgement by giving him an opening handicap mark of 106 and I think its quite telling that connections, have obviously had a torrid time getting him to the track, pitch him into a very competitive looking 21 runner handicap on just his 2nd start and I'm guessing they feel he has a massive chance in landing this. Davy Condon takes over from Robbie Power who can't make the weight and Gavin Cromwell's charge should definitely appreciate the step up to 3m. Despite making his debut at a very late stage and being so inexperienced, if Pencilhimin possesses half the talented of his excellent brother then he has the potential to blow this field away off a mark of 106.

Defy Logic is the stand out horse in the novice hurdle.

For me Mala Beach (9/1) is the value. He's getting 6lbs off BND and only needs to find 3 lengths to reverse the form.

For the gold cup I think Oscar Wells form is the strongest. His defeat of Baily Green and 2nd to Beneficent looks decent now.

Didn't see the point of starting a new thread for this

    3.50 Musselburgh

    Moidore 13/2

Going to keep this short but I can't see John Quinn's 4 year old out of the first 3 and firmly believe he is the one they all have to beat. Formerly pretty progressive for Roger Charlton, this 4 year old joined John Quinn last August and after a solid effort on stable debut he stepped up to score impressively on his last start on the flat last September off a mark of 80 at Hamilton over 1m5f by 1.5L. Under tomorrow's pilot Michael O'Connell, Moidore sat in behind the pace before coming with a long persistent challenge before getting on top in the final furlong to score in dogged fashion. The form of that race looks strong with the runner up winning impressively on his next start off the same mark and it certainly looked as if there was more to come from this son of Galileo. Since then, Moidore has had 3 runs over hurdles where he was probably disappointing on his final start but I heard there was a possibility he was to have a breathing operation (I've no clue if they went through with it) and it can only be seen as a positive if he has. Even if he hasn't, the 5lb rise to a mark of 85 looks more than reasonable based on his latest flat success and I think he'll relish being stepped up an extra furlong. Seemingly versatile in relation to ground, Moidore is entitled to have grown quite a lot between the age of 3 and 4 and he certainly didn't come across as a horse who was exposed. Coming from the John Quinn yard which is clearly in sparkling form as they landed the Lincoln yesterday, I think Moidore has a fantastic chance of winning this and I'll be rather surprised if he doesn't at least fill the places.

It looks impossible to oppose Annie Power, 4/7 looks a bit of a gift to be honest. I think 5/2 about Defy Logic is more than fair. Oscar Wells then at 4's in the Powers Gold Cup.

I'm hoping Annie Power wins as it'll make my 3/1 Defy Logic look bigger again

Probably should have doubled the 2 of them

Lads I already told you who will win that race. Some Tikket. Delighted with 8/1 last night.

Defy Logic and Oscars Well double paying just about 14/1 for me.

    Anyone see Benemeade being beaten?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

    Decent punt on Defy Logic

Not much 2/1 left & he's shorter on the machine. Sportinglife forecast was 11/4 which I didn't think we'd see so it would have been rude not to take the 3/1

Hopefully Annie Power makes the form look very solid in the race before

He's far too short. I think he will win but no value.

I agree he's very short but as part of a bigger bet...

Did a small double earlier (4/7,5/2) also along with singles on both. One of the rare times it actually makes sense to do a double.

There's no point in backing Defy Logic now at the price, people might as well wait to see if the form is franked. He's been backed this morning on the expectation that Annie Power will hose up. He will either stay 7/4 or so, or drift wildly if she loses

Think it's tough enough racing, going to take a chance on Marie De Ja La in the last at Plumpton. She seems ungenuine and moody but is undeniably well handicapped at a pound below her last win mark, and was then second over this course and distance off a stone higher. Hasn't put her best foot forward for the majority of the year but there was some hope at Fontwell on Stephen's Day. Not one to get overly involved with financially but at 20/1 she seems too big in a weak race.

Nice 1-2 for the champion trainer

She is another freak between herself and upsie they have the mares hurdle wrapped up for the next few seasons.

Defy Logic smashed up into 13/8 after the mare bolting up.

Are you single handly betting in this market ?

    20s to 10s.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Pencilhimin was the one that caught my eye, mark of 106 after a maiden win first time out that was no fluke looked surprisingly jealous, but a horse having his second start in this kind of race is tricky

If I went for any in the race it'd be an overpriced Ancient Days each way at 25s having finally gotten his head in front

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭SRFC

He's a full brother to War of Attrition isnt he,they didnt keep him in training as an 8 yr old if he was no good I personally think he's thrown in off that mark.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

During the week I was trying to get matched for a champion hurdle price on Annie Power on Betfair to no avail

Looking at that she may well step up in trip. Quevega isn't getting any younger but if she stays sound could connections resist trying to go back for a 6th go at the mares race

Brave win for Byerley Babe at Cork there. Love a horse that sticks his neck out like that.

Oscars Well looks tempting at 5.0 on Betfair for this, won't be having a bet though :pac: I reckon this trip and the ground will suit, cream doesn't always rise to the top in racing though.

I reckon Mount B' has a lot to prove and the odds on both Dedigout and Mikael D' look really skimpy.

Fingers crossed it's a decent race and they all get back safe and sound.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,370 ✭✭✭rossom

Pencilhimin was very odd. Lost track of him and saw he was tailed off out the back. Will have to watch it back to see what happened as I never saw Condon get after him at any stage.

Moidore done in a head bobber wasn't friendly!
