Calories burnt vs Calorie Deficit

    Hi,
    So to lose weight diet is more important than exercise.
    Exercise more important for toning and shape.
    To lose weight you need to burn more calories than you consume.
    A few of the mantras of this forum..

    I would consider my diet pretty good but sometimes I do the dog at the weekend.

    My question...

    Average adult burns 2,000 calories per day just going about their daily life..

    When I do a long run at the weekend (30+km, for marathon training) I burn 2,000-2,200 calories (roughly).

    So total calories burnt for the day might be 4,000.

    Assuming I have porridge for breakfast and a salad for lunch and consume say 700 calories, could I technically drink 6 pints of Guinness (1,200) and have a decent feed (1,800) and still have a calorie deficit for the day. Or is there more factors/variables to take into consideration, looking at this from a weight loss perspective????

    You might be in a calorie deficit for that day, but what happens in the other 364 days of the year? Consistency is the name of the game if you want to see results.

    I maintain at 2700 calories, not 2000.

    As I explained, just doing the dog on this day having done a 30K run. Otherwise, midweek I eat healthily and train, usually pre and post work, very consistently.

    My main query was, are there more factors that need to be considered apart from simply burning more/consuming less calories.

    i.e. am I able to go out and have a load of pints and still have a calorie deficit so long as I've burnt enough during that particular day by running?
