    Hi Guys,
I am living in rented accommodation. when we moved in, we has all the irish channels, but as soon as ireland went digital we still have RTE1 and TV3. we cant figure out how. we have a black cable running down the wall and this wire gives us those two channels. we do not have upc or any box...
could this be coming from next door? the appartment next door has UPC internet but does not have upc channels as we have asked.
does any one have any ideas as to why we have channels, and why it is only rte1 and tv3.
    thanks :D

Is there any chance that the TV might have a digital tuner built into it. Most TVs bought in the last 3 years have these days.

If it was Saorview, you would have all the Saorview channels + epg etc.

What part of the country are you in? Is it an apartment/flat or house you are in?

The apartment next door will have analogue television if they use a cheap splitter or variable gain amplifier with a short lenght of satellite cable, a low decibel boost would only be required. :) I am not in an area where UPC is available and wouldn't be interested in their TV services only their broadband.

Do UPC still have analogue channels on all their cable networks? Nobody said OP is in Dublin & some of the channels they were receiving would seem to have been off-air terrestrial analogue, since they disappeared at switchover.

UPC still have the analogue service via cable even for customers who just have broadband.
It looks like the op is picking this up,they should retune their tv & see if they pick up the rest of the channels.
