Beginner question... I know this has been discussed in previously, but.. I bought some thermo cycling bib trousers to keep myself warm as the summer does not seem to arrive  but the bibs dont seem to have any padding - what should I wear under them? Padded shorts

You'll definitely need your padded shorts if there's no padding in the tights

Yeah, as you have gathered, you've probably bought the wrong item, and should have purchased padded bib longs/tights, but all is not lost, you could get something like these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-padded-undershort/ or these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-pro-padded-undershorts-2011/to wear under the pants you've got and still manage to protect the undercarraige ;)

I prefer long bibs to not have the pad.

You can wear them a few days in a row with a new pair of padded shorts underneath everyday.

Will have a go with padded shorts underneath, thanks for the replies.

I have the Aldi ones, seem to fit perfectly underneath. Will see how my bits feel after a longer spin, hopefully over the weekend.

I use padded shorts under bib tights/longs and find it very comfortable. Also as petethedrummer said above the tights can be worn a couple of days in a row without needing a wash.
