I know this might be obvious to some people, and this isn't really a complaint as I've organized a refund already, but I just want to show the ****ing state of this laptop I bought!

This is the original listing - looks lovely. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/360616293988?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2351wt_985

The seller has 100% rating, the only problem with the laptop (according to the seller) is that is has "Some lid top scratches".

I can deal with that. Didn't bother asking him for pics cos his rating is so good. I also consider myself an "ebay pro". Been using it for yonks.

It arrived today... look at the ****ing state of it.

Here are "some lid top scratches".

Here are a few more pics. Looks like he was eating a ****ing breakfast roll on top of it.

    Anyway...

    ALWAYS ASK FOR PICS!

by the way, since I'm here. What's the cheapest way to send this back to the UK? An Post is charging crazy prices.

Terrible but I think you're mad to buy a secondhand laptop -period! You don't know what someone may have been accessing on it and what perils may be lurking on the hard drive.

Shur I was going to reinstall windows on it. Any "perils" would be pretty much wiped clean.

    That thing needs power hosing.

Actually ... could I demand that he pays the shipping cost for returning the item?

This is my worst ebay experience ever, the laptop was for my mothers birthday this weekend!

Just an update folks, he has agreed to refund me the price of laptop & shipping & the cost of posting it back to him. He has 100% positive feedback, I'd love to give the ****er a negative but since this has all been resolved in less than a day I think I'll give him a positive. What would you do?

+ all the way, but perhaps explain what happened in the feedback

If the rest of the laptop was in decent shape and as described I actually think you are really lucky to be getting a full refund inc return postage!

Look, I know you arent going to agree with me but I thought I would just add my thoughts

-Its a second hand laptop, some wear and tear is expected.
-The seller specifically calls out the fact there is "some lid top scratches". ("some" is open to interpitation, it does not do anything to quantify the amount of scratches there is).
-No where in the ad is the cosmetic condition ever described as positive (only mentions are the generic ebay "used" condition and the lid top scratches)
-The scratches does not effect the operation of the laptop, so its not like its unusable in its current state

pre-submit edit: I thought your issue was with the lid top scratches, I have just looked at the imgur link... not very nice! I believe my points are still valid though even with the dirt of it.

Personally i think the seller is being very fair offering the return postage as I still think the laptop is not any different than as described. (he never said it was clean!)

I wouldnt leave any feedback in this case if it was me. I think positive isnt accurate, but negative is too negative.

I would leave a postive feeback saying item not as described but full refund plus postage given.
