Lads opinions needed, I’m doing up my kennels over the next couple of weeks.
I’m just wondering is it better to have one dog per kennel(Run) or two per kennel(run.
At the moment my three dogs have their own kennels and share one run.
Two of them have decided to share same kennel at night.
Just wondering really is there any advantage to segregating them , or any disadvantage to not segregating them.

It more to do with your dogs and what you think , I have two dominant females that , when in a kennel go at it hit and heavy ! So there separated but have two males that are happy out in the same kennel .

    Women eh!
I've 5 spits kenneled at the moment. 2 dogs in 1 & 2 bitches and a dog in another.
2 dogs and 2 bitches share & one dog likes his own space.

I do find when training a few dogs that separate makes it easier gettin em in & out & less loyal to each other but together they have some company throughout the day which keeps em happier

Ya, should have specified. I have three bitches and all get on fine.
As I said I'm doing up the kennels and I want to do it right.
When you look at large kennels dogs are normally separated and sometimes with solid panels.
I was wondering was this for a reason.

But what epointer said about the training makes sense.
I'm doing a bit of training with two of them at the moment and was wondering by having them together would make a difference.
Is it easier to work and train dogs if they are seperated?

How do yee get on with the dogs when bitches are in heat
Is it okay to have them in separate kennels side by side?

Finally Any kennel tips for for catering for a litter of pups

have my 2 bitches kennelled together same kennel same run but it badly needs redoin so im goint to go with 3 sections 3 dogs .. but like to kennel a pup seperate if i can like epointer said, stops the pup from bonding with the older dog more so than me but usually if you only take one out at a time it can prevent this it would be handy to have seperate sections even if one is empty ya never know you could use one for whelping bitches but i wouldnt seperate the dogs if they like eachothers company,,, as long as the dog cant get in he will be fine usually somne of em are fu'kers and would howl the place down

Have a few small bits to do like clad or slate the rooves but after a few weeks of the dogs in here I haven't had to powerhose once - this is with a bull float & brush finish. They stay spotless as they face the sun all day, are sloped towards the drain from both sides as well right to left (garage to end.) Each run has a hose connected & it's as simple as hose into the drain in the centre when feeding morning & evening.
All mesh is galvanized & coated & fixings are proper galvanize 16mm bolts. Water is in galvanized calf trough (sealed with Tech7) Food Bowls will be mounted off the ground once I get my welder fixed.
The only thing to be replace will be the houses at some point but the new roof will prolong that greatly. With nothing on the ground there is no where for dirt to lodge - I am glad I chose not to do block houses as debated it alot.
The 3rd run is open a the back divder sheet between the 2nd & 3rd so 1 run is doubled til needed & I can easily split with a 4ft sheet of mesh.
Dimensions of each run are 11ft by 20ft so each dog has 220 sq ft of room.

Very happy with the end result & at this point don't regret any of the design which is unusual for me! Lifetime job hopefully!

I had 2 8x8 pens for the 2 bitches i have. But as i have a new dog pup im going to add in 3 panels and divide up the second pen. So il end up with 1 8x8 and 2 6x8, all dogs get on great put its easier when taking one out for a run etc
