Have you ever lost one of your adult teeth?

It's been a fear of mine since I was a child,I was afraid of jumping to head the ball when playing football in case I lost a tooth with a clash of heads.

There's one tooth I have now which IIhave a feeling is loose, but it isn't really.

    Do you fear losing teeth?

Its a recurring nightmare for me, literally. But luckily not one I've had in a while. I think it may be one of those things that won't be so bad once it has actually happened but I'd like to hang on to the chompers as long as possible.

    Could be nonsense now mind...

Heard something like that too but I was having the dream at times I had no worries or stress so yeh, it could well be nonsense.

A recurring dream of teeth falling out is supposed to mean a health problem that's bothering you but you've been either too lazy/fearful to go to a doctor. Also if you dream of rats in your house walls.

I was the exact same with the recurring dreams, used to wreck my head teeth falling out if I touched them and if one fell out lots would follow - eventually got books from the library about dreams and looked up stuff on the internet and from what I gathered its your brain telling you you need to go to the dentist!

I went got my teeth sorted out and the dreams stopped or only happen once every couple of years - happy days!

About fifteen years ago I was eating a packet of cola bottle sweets when I suddenly noticed one of them was a lot crunchier than usual. I took the sweet out of my mouth and saw my filling stuck in it as well as small bits of tooth. I went to the dentist soon after and had the rest of the tooth pulled out.

I've had another couple of teeth removed too. I think I'm missing four in total. Luckily they're not front teeth so they're not noticeable.

I dream about it a lot, then wake in a panic.

I've had one molar removed. Sometimes you can see it when I smile :( but I like to eat lolly pops and stick the stick out through the gap.

Nothing lost, but chipped a few. Got hit in the mouth by a cement mixer when I was 15 and chipped a front tooth. Then at a house party, a few people jumped on my back and I fell face first onto the ground and lost almost half a canine tooth

I have lost three of my bottom molars, can't even enjoy a pack of Muchies or a Moro bar now :( My parents never spent time telling me as a child to brush my teeth. As a teen I got a huge abscess in my jaw, rotted two of the teeth from underneath, was eating scrambled egg on toast one day, one tooth crumbled, rotted underneath, six weeks later the one next to it did the same. Then I got another absess on the other side and the tooth chipped from lack of care, so that had to come out too. Now as a mother I show my son my missing teeth and tell him he will have that too if he doesn't brush his.

I also have several fillings. Well about 4-5.

I'm always dreaming about my teeth falling out. Like at least once a week. It's to do with money worries apparently, if you believe in that sort of thing. I am very precious about my teeth though, after years of wearing braces. Freaks the hell out of me thinking of them falling out.

It was Wine gums for me.

I have one that's lose now. has been for years. I'll need to get it removed soon and since it's at the front I'll need either bridgework or a screw in (I'm far too young for dentures). I was looking up prices and it's about 2 grand in ireland. But about 600 in poland or hungary so I think I'll be proactive and go to one of them over the summer. Anyone ever done that? Got anywhere to recommend?

I fell into a toilet bowl a couple of years ago and lost all my front teeth, cost me ten grand to get them replaced but I smile like a film star now.

I know someone who went to Bulgaria with there partner got his teeth done and had a week's holiday in the sun and came home quids in compared to the prices here,

Dont know where or exact details but its defo the way to go.

Little brother lost a tooth to a Dan bar years ago, I lost one to a Tangy soon after. It's not a clash of heads the OP needs to worry about, it's those damn confectionaries.

Lost a molar a while back due to grinding. Eventually the pressure messed it up and while eating a pork rib...crrrunch - tooth crumbled. Thought it may have been a bit of bone from the rib but alas...:(

I need some fillings and root canals too. Here it'd be over 5 grand. there it's about two. But I'd feel safer with a recommendation before I hand over 2 grand and let someone into my mouth with a drill.

Even if it's some random bloke off the internet :)

Had a problem tooth that had to be filled after it broke when it came into contact with a piece of bone in one of those readymeals I made the mistake of eating. The filling popped out on a flight, the replacement filling fell out later. Had an abscess form under the tooth which burst out the side of my gum when I was put on antibiotics. Finally got a root canal which lasted a few years. The entire feckin thing fell out a few weeks ago so I have this deep hole in my gum which keeps bleeding all the time. Need to get it sorted but I'll bet it's expensive.

Have a back one gone in bottom from game few years ago. Not bad place to lose one if you have to I guess.

I have veneers on six of my top teeth so am really paranoid about chipping them or snapping one off opening a bottle or one getting stuck on a chewy bar or whatever :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,581 ✭✭✭Testament1

Havent lost any teeth yet but I have had about half of one of my back teeth break off before due to decay. Ended up having to get a root canal done on it. Have a few fillings on other teeth too. I'd like to say that I now have a perfectly healthy mouth but my bleeding gums say otherwise :(

I still have two baby teeth (I'm 27) on my bottom jaw. There were no adult ones underneath so they just never fell out. They're still hanging on but are quite worn down so I guess they're not long for this world.

On a positive note, I have all my wisdom teeth so if they do get pulled eventually the gap will close up and the teeth will move closer or something.

I still have a baby tooth it's a upper canine, I know it's hollow inside and went to the dentists recently for a check up as I was worried about it and he confirmed my fears that yes it will eventually fall out :(

Yeah, had a wisdom tooth extracted. No big deal; don't miss it.

Interestingly, Steven Gerrard had all his wisdom teeth removed...to solve his groin problem.
